Man this board is bipolar af. Saturday it was “sweep the Jets, bring on the playoffs, legit contender, etc.”. Today it’s “will never win with this core, blow it up, hope for 1st overall.” This game was bad showing, no question, but was anyone really thinking we were going to sweep? We barely lost while playing like dog crap. Regroup, reset, clean up some areas (discipline!) and get ready for tomorrow.

Rinse and repeat.

It's worked so well for this franchise let's continue it!
It's been 5 years. Treliving is a avg, at best, gm.

Just like coaching, flames will go bargain hunting and get a cheap unproven diamond in the rough.

I say it again, inherited monahan, gaudreau backlund, Giordano, Brodie, and responsible for a lottery pick in tkachuk....

What a great job....

Treliving has been given a full rebuild cycle (in which he thought it smart to trade 2x 1st round and 2x 2nd round picks before the team was even any good).

Treliving sucks. He's a tremendously nice guy, no doubt but he ain't winning a cup as the gm here.

Have to make the jets players take it one step too far in those scrums. Really dumb that we let them lure us into taking that many dumb cheap shots. We had the lead and the advantage, there was no need to participate.

If they can’t win a 5 game series against a depleted Jets team I do think that the owners may need to light a fire under the GM. He’s had over 5 years to build this team and they really aren’t significantly better than they are when he took over. He’s not going to get fired but he should be on notice.

5 years isn't long enough to allow a GM to implement his vision.
Again, look at bad franchises and you will see one of the most common elements is constant change at the top.
Strong franchises have stability in key management positions.

When the opposition are missing their #1 C, 2nd line RW (1st PP LW at that) and are patchworking with some 4th line talent, yeah, ppl should be anticipating brooms. But nay, you get a bi polar fan response from a bipolar performing team. Weird.

Flames should be angry at themselves and the officials. There is plenty of spark there. Tomorrow the need to come out motivated for both wrongs and embarrass the Jets.

If they do that they’ll roll them in 4. Jets are not better outside an edge to goal right now.

Putting a GM "on notice" is a terrible idea as it motivates short-term thinking. That's when damage is really done.
He's either their guy moving forward or he's not. No half measures.

I would look more to the players and make changes there.
This core has had multiple opportunities. If they don't go on a run this year - time to change it up.

Personally I thought the Flames struggled the full game.

Powerplay basically displayed how off their passes were

Flames 4th line was a huge issue, a lineup change will be required for next game

As the Flames can't play 3 lines against a team line the Jets.

Obviously undisciplined penalties were a big factor.

Have to think if the Jets weren’t depleted they would be rolling this team.

I am pretty indifferent these days, got my handicap down to a 6, father in law got me new Callaway Matrix Pro Irons that after two rounds I can clearly tell will be game changers, 7 iron goes 175 in the air now at sea level. Still going to be a good august, no matter what happens.

Filthy, dirty kick by Pionk on Gaudreau. Wonder if Ward goes and cries to the media about this.

I feel like the team I watched through at least the second and third of game one was an entirely different one that I watched today. That's the source of the bipolarity.

I have no issues with a team playing hard, smart, and losing due to the opponent doing it a bit better, or running into a hot goalie, but that wasn't today.

Too many careless or absent minded plays. The Flames didn't play to their own potential, again, seen it too often, and you'd think they'd realize it too and adjust or step up. That's the source of the frustration as a fan.

We'll see what team we get tomorrow.

That said, the hyperbole on here's excessive, I'll give you that

The Flames just don’t have the competitive intensity they need in the playoffs. Like, maybe for a game, but not enough to be taken seriously in the post season. Tkachuk in particular needs to learn how to bring it every single game. Until they have a team that is going to put the work in and show that intensity, they’re pretty pathetic.
