I'm curious as to what player(s) that people on here think the Flames should be acquiring? Who's available that's any good?

There's a bunch of crap like Simmonds circulating. Guys like Pageau are costing an arm and a leg.

I want the Flames to sell not acquire. I would rather the Flames have a long-term vision and sell free agents like Brodie, Hamonic, Talbot.

Way better than standing pat especially because I do not believe this team will make the playoffs. Even if they do, they aren't going very far.

I'd like to see it too. Only problems are

-ownership likely saying they have to make the playoffs. Not the GMs fault, we all have to listen to our bosses. So with that, you can't really move Brodie unless both Hamonic and Gio are back immediately.

-Who's buying Hamonic? He's injured

-Talbot is an interesting one I hadn't really thought of. Who out there is looking at a goalie, Toronto and Carolina maybe?

It's difficult for the Flames to move out either of Brodie/Hamonic, as they don't know what the plan will be moving forward for their defence. If they move out both for middling picks, they could find themselves in the off season needing to trade assets for another top 4 defenceman.

Unfortunately, the way things have worked out with injuries and play this year, just creates way too much uncertainty.

Edit: Also, Hamonic is injured. He's not tradeable. And trading Brodie is throwing in the towel. If the Flames win a single playoff series, people will be wanting to re-sign Brodie.

Also, Brodie has a NTC which significantly limits what Treliving can do.

Exactly. Keenan's point is probably who cares not like they're doing damage in the playoffs anyway. But in the real world that's not an option, Treliving can't just throw in the towel and ice a non competitive team for the sake of a 3rd round pick. THAT is the kind of thing that would get him fired

They should be selling we have two really good pieces in gaudreau and brodie that could really help turn the franchise around the writing should be on the wall that this year is pretty much done for this team. But brad will do absolutely nothing and this team will be stuck in the same gd infinite loop it has been stuck in forever
