GMC Canyon 5,030
Jeep Gladiator 4,479
Honda Ridgeline 3,369
That is terrible for something as hyped as the Gladiator was. Clearly they priced this wrong. Typicaly FCA (err Stellantis!) it'll be $15,000 on rebate next month....

A quick search thorough Autotrader shows only 24 new 2020 models left on the whole province. They look to have actually hit the projection pretty well.

That truck should have started at $30-$35k to make it attractive to your average 30-year-old guy that would want to buy it. Old guys with money are very unlikely to buy a Gladiator if it's going to be their only vehicle because no doubt they drive like garbage with compromises here there and everywhere.

What do you base $30-$35k pricing on? Is that just a feeling? Do you realize you aren’t finding any new truck out there for $35000 right? 96 month terms make Jeep’s very attractive to young buyers. Like Jeep Wranglers, the Gladiator looks to hold its value extremely well too.

That Raptor starts at $85,311 (with GST). According to the Ford site, payments on that are $1607/month ($0 down; five-year term). That's insane.

You can definitely get a Canyon or Sierra for $35-40k. It might have a rubber floor and roll up windows, but it does exist. The midsized trucks are fatally flawed when the costs overlap with a full size. IMO 96 month loans on depreciating assets are borderline criminal to people's finances.

A feeling? No, I'm basing it on peer-vehicle pricing.
Colorado: Starts at $27,598
Ranger: Starts at $30,159
Tacoma: Starts at $38k.
Look at full-size trucks:
Silverado: Starts at $31,298
F-150: Starts at $31,429
Ram Classic: Starts at $27,637
Gladiator: Starts at $46,821

You are comapring trucks that A, nobody wants or buys and B trucks that dont offer near what a Gladiator does, so not "peer" pricing. A base Ranger Crew Cab starts at $38K and comes with next to nothing in options. A base Canyon 4x4 starts at $40k. And unless its a fleet or business virtually nobody buys base model trucks. For either of these trucks nicely equipped you are looking $45k. There is a huge difference between base model pricing and pricing an equipped model for quick retail sale. Add 4x4, Remote Start, heated seats, towing package, an engine adequate for towing, power drivers seat etc.....
If the market was saturated with left over new 2020 Gladiators, one could make an argument for them being over priced, but that is certainly not the case.

I find that Jeep buyers are very brand loyal so the Gladiator is aimed more towards existing owners who might want a pickup bed instead of a cargo area. I don't believe the Gladiator was ever supposed to pull many truck buyers away from a typical F150 or Silverado.
Gladiator started as a third party conversion system that had a lot of interest and popularity amongst Wrangler owners which was a driving factor for an official production model.
With those sales numbers I'd be curious to know if the Gladiator is just cannibalizing sales of the other Wrangler models vs adding overall sales to the brand.

I have found that if you are driving older cars, that you purchased used, it pays to find yourself a good, honest mechanic. There is always someone around that has the special skill to fix damn near anything, and if you combine that with good character, they can keep you on the road, at a reasonable cost, indefinitely.

Fair comment.
I have been lucky with mine, only needed to do regular maintenance with one exception a transfer case.
But you are correct, a mechanic you can trust is key. I have a guy here and my experiences have all been good.

Not really, none of those BASE model links are peers of the Gladiator. The only current model worth comparing is a Colorado ZR2 which starts at $49k. I should've stated "nobody is buying a $35,000 truck" vs "you aren't finding a $35,000 truck". There is a small difference, but not much.
I can't believe I've been defending the friggin Jeep Gladiator. But really for all their faults, Jeep really has it figured out with the Jeep Wranglers and it looks like they are on the same path with the Gladiator, time will tell I guess.

That's kind of the point though, Jeep Gladiator doesn't have a model that competes in the lower market. Which might help explain why the sales are so dismal.

I always laugh at the looks on people faces when I tell them how much money they would have if they put that $500-$1000 monthly in the market for the the last 20 years
Your worthless car, truck that you just sold for $1000 could have set you up for life

Is no one allowed to have passionate opinions on the internet anymore? I care, because I like small economical trucks, which nobody makes anymore. Do you have any other rules about discussions we can have here?

Not passionate about them. But I need something that tows my travel trailer, boat and cargo trailer. I also tend to do a lot of stuff in the yard, harvest my own firewood, we like to go to remote areas on dirt/gravel roads to find trail heads to go hiking. I’m sorry, our Golf R or Mustang GT can’t do any of those things without a compromise or damage of some sort.
A crew cab short box truck is probably the most versatile vehicle money can buy. Not so long it’s cumbersome, but not so small you’re limited in what you can tow or haul. The cabs are incredibly roomy for 5 passengers when we have guests or family in town, and in horrid snow, they are awesome for ground clearance. If it is strictly a grocery getter I get the hate, but my truck works 90% of the time it’s running or is navigating a blizzard.
Aside from a grocery getting trip once in a blue moon to keep the battery charged in the winter, if it isn’t doing work, it isn’t being driven.
And for the record. 2019 Ruby Red F150 XLT FX4. Matte black Ram is a Brodozer deluxe.
