Backlund does not have a goal 5 on 5 since Oct 20th. And that’s long before he went on the top line where he has no goals in the past month while playing with the talents of JG and SM.
He certainly seems like a placeholder up there until they find that player that BT been looking for since last trade deadline, to basically replace him there or have that player somewhere in the top 6. IMO he takes away from the effectiveness of JG and SM with the style he plays.
$5.3m for another 4 years after this one, for a third line c, is steep, but it is what it is.
Wow PGT out before the end of the game. Reminds me of the darkest days of the Decade of Darkness.

What an embarrassment

This team is well on its way to becoming the worst NHL team of all time... I wonder how long it will be before we have more no. 1 draft picks than Stanley Cups.

If they get a winger, he better be able to play defence like Backlund. The Flames were able to play Monahan versus McDavid tonight without a lot of fear because Backlund brings some defensive game. So the answer’s not a Hall type.

Lots of options for your line 1 in house
Lucic - good for 20 G 50 Pts many times, never relying on speed
Bennett - got 36 points w/ Backlund and Frolik as a rookie w. second line duty and basically no PP time
Frolik - good for 0.5 ppg several years running, no matter who he plays with. Boggles my mind that he is ever a healthy scratch

It is very nice I won’t lie. No issues getting drinks or using the bathroom. Had company seats that were where the WAGS sat (I sat next to Nurse’s parents) overall very nice spot and great experience. Can’t wait for the new Dome
I was there tonight too and I found the building was nice but the washroom lines and drink lines were way worst than the dome. I really liked the sight lines and the scoreboard. They have wayyyyyy too much hype up content all the time though. And $13 beers
I gotta hand it to this person on HF this is ####ing funny

From Lowe, mact, tambo, chia, and now Holland. This is the reason we have had disaster for 30 years now. We have smashed every loser record known to man, apes, and dinosaurs. Ever since the first recordings on cave walls were scribed. Even before that, but there's no written proof.

I’ve seen a few comments on the favourable schedule moving forward, but my god...
If you assume the Wild pass the Oilers in the next couple of days:
- Only 7 of 26 Flames games between now and the end of February are against teams currently in a playoff spot.
- Only 14 of the remaining 42 games are against playoff teams
- 23 home games versus 19 road games

We leapfrog the Oilers and take their playoff spot
Yep, the Flames have indeed passed the Oilers, but, haven't taken the Oilers playoff spot. The Oilers are now in 8th place of the western conf. and currently hold the last playoff spot. Not for long as they will continue their downward spiral. Prior to the game, the Flames were in 8th place. https://scores.nbcsports.com/nhl/sta...conference.asp
MacTavish "I think anytime you win 5 Stanley Cups there is a certain amount of mess that comes at the tailend of that success. It is the cyclical nature of the business.....but the fact of the matter is it is not about yesterday, there may be some skeptics out there......my sole objective is to add something to the future of this club.....I am going to help turn this team around"
Kevin Lowe "Fair question....we have two types of fans, paying customers and people who watch the game that we still care about.....I think it is safe to say that half the general managers in the NHL would trade their roster for our roster. In terms of the group who messed things up, you are talking about the group that had a team one period away from winning the Stanley Cup..."

Kevin Lowe - "And you know the cycle of that, you know we chased a dream for a few years for our fanbase, and then at some point in that timeframe we realized that's a bad plan and we made a change and we are finishing year 3 of that plan. Now you say to me you are getting impatient after three years. Lastly I will say there is one other guy I believe in hockey today that is still working in the game that has more Stanley Cups that me so I think I know a little bit about winning if there is every a concern"
