Why on Earth would the Devils, or anyone for that matter want Jake Allen? He is a 4.3M cap hit and a ball of suck.

I could see New Jersey taking the Hossa deal back in exchange for more assets

Barkov just fell skate first into the boards, had to be helped to the dressing room by teammates. If it's a high ankle sprain it might change any potential trade for Hall with Florida.

On what planet would anyone trade Barkov for Taylor Hall?

I think he's saying that a long term Barkov injury might make the Panthers hesitate dealing a pile of assets for a big name rental.

Or up their offer to make sure they get him.

I read his post as this means the Panthers likely are our and wouldn’t be willing to part with the necessary pieces now with Barkov potentially set to miss some time.

Gotcha. That wasn't obvious the way it was worded.

Panthers are still a borderline team, losers of 3 straight (although 2 of them are to NYI and BOS). I wouldn't be spending assets right now until they show that they can win consistently.

Barkov's injury is frustrating to be sure. They just can't seem to get over the hump, and maybe that's why they're looking at Hall.

With no teams being allowed to talk to Hall, could see return being underwhelming for the Devils.

Perhaps they know he has no intention of signing for anything less than all he can get.

Bennett + Czarnik + Jankowski + conditional 2nd (becomes a first if he extends) for Hall?

Hall - Monahan - Gaudreau
Tkachuk - Backlund - Lindholm
Lucic - Ryan - Mangiapane
Rieder - Dube - Frolik
Rinaldo, Quine

Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Kylington - Andersson
Stone

Rittich
Talbot

That line up looks pretty crazy IMO

I don't see why NJ would want that package.

Yeah if the Flames are going for him, Bennett and an unconditional first are two good pieces but there has to be more.

Bennett + Zavgorodny + Kylington + 1st probably gets their attention.

Agreed, very weak for a “leading offer”
Hope the flames look at it if the cost is that low.

I posted that package in reply to atb. If they aren’t letting teams negotiate with Hall and looking at the rumoured pieces excluded from Coyotes deal it doesn’t seem like the trade is going to yield what we expected. We shall see soon here too I’m guessing.
