Except maybe that time Brian tried to fight Tyler Arnasson in a bar?

What Carcillo considers "abuse", I have no idea, but there would have to be corroboration attached to a specific incident fir this to even make a headline.
Not saying nothing ever happened, because i dont know, but I do know that former players love Darryl and Brian...which doesnt sound much at all like they were "abused".

Meh....bar scraps used to happen all the time...at all levels of pro hockey.
But if we are going to start disqualifying people from working in the NHL because they used to fight? Not going to be enough guys around to fill the jobs.

Did scraps between players and coaches really happen all the time at the NHL level?
Like, I know Keenan used to strap on the pads and get into during a practice, and obviously Brian and Arnasson, but I honestly don't know of any other examples.
Was Paul Baxter chuckin' knucks at the Roxy post game?

Getting yelled at, bag skated and kicking garbage cans doesnt qualify. Commodore has already called out coaches and he claimed he had no issues with Sutter's ways, so I'm a little more skeptical.
Basically I dont like seeing prominent names getting smeared just for these players to get back at coaches they didn't jive with. It has to be with good cause.

Did you see those teams?
I base it on player development, notably defensemen.
Tyson Barrie, Shea Weber, Duncan Keith, Jamie Benn, Tyler Myers, Mikael Backlund, etc.
All guys he developed as Head coach or defensive assistant. People seem to enjoy the progress Rasmus Anderson and Oliver Kylington have made over the past 3 seasons.
Huska has also never had a winning percentage below .500 as a head coach in his career

I seem to recall that Joel isn't interested in NHL jobs because of the travel and desire to be close to his family as much as possible.

Maybe a guy like Laviolette becomes available in the offseason or he looks at a top assistant from a successful team. It will be interesting to see what happens but after three coaches he should have a better feeling about the type of personality needed to coach this team.

No F*&^%%$ way to Laviolette. Idiot ran Philly's two best players out of town to LA and they one 2 cups for them didn't they?

The problem is abuse is a very hard thing to define.
What started this was something that was more definitive - use of a racist term. That's easy to identify.
Physical abuse is also easier.
But when you get into these other areas of mental/emotional abuse, bullying, manipulation, etc - it gets a little more ambiguous.
I'm of the mind that hockey needs to go through a pretty big culture shift and if this is the catalyst for that - I'm all for it.
But I don't know that means that we can look back and start to examine the way that coaches behaved years ago.
I suspect there are things that many coaches (including the Sutters did) that were acceptable then that aren't now.
