He has been in on the (very brief) forecheck a couple of times. To my eye he has been more noticeable than the other Elias.

Alright Ferland, show these sad sacks how it's done.

Lol Smith falling forward on a low percentage angle shot.

How long is Smith's groin going to hold up in front of that D? My guess is he won't make it out of October.

^He already got up awkwardly after that breakaway.

So given that Smith is the starter here - in the home opener no less - does this mean that Koskinen is officially the backup to start the season?

Hahaha Draisaitl basically tossed Hughes to the ice.

TSN seemed to have this as a policy. Mike Johnson, Ferraro, and Maguire especially did this all the time. Making some general statement at the beginning of the game (Mr X doesn’t seem to be engaged) and then patting themselves on the back as astute hockey experts each time that statement was validated, as the director cherry picked clips of that player not moving his feet or coasting or not smiling.

Vancouver looks like they're still in preseason mode.

The Nucks would do themselves a lot of good if they can stop letting Draisaitl school them.

Feels like Draisaitl has played half the period.

Yas, VAN is remembering how to play hockey, and immediately the Oilers start to crumble and look inept in their own end.

Oilers getting dominated to end the period. That's better.
