The real issue there was that they have VAR now to overturn that call.

I can kinda see that being called live but the ref needs to have the ability to realize the mistake and not be afraid to overturn that.

FiveThirtyEight has Canada as favorites with a 59% chance to win. Should be a close match - one or two important plays will probably be the difference.

Get male refs until they get that area of the game up to scratch.
Is there a reason why you intend to hold women to a much higher standard than men?

Trying to train myself to care as much about the Canadian women team as I would the mens. Having a daughter I don't want her to see me take them lightly or with a blase attitude. If this is sounding preachy ... which as I type it sounds preachy.. but we should get behind our girls big time.

Go ladies go!

Not a bad start here by Canada but this has the feeling of a game where it's going to be that one mistake by the back line which will cost the game. Here's hoping that it's for us.

GO CANADA GO

In your haste to promote your self righteous persona maybe you could go back and read my post again and point me to the part where I mentioned higher standard?

I'll settle for equal or same.

And yes, congrats on pointing out what we already know. That the men's game is not perfect either. I don't recall suggesting otherwise.

But, what is clear here is that the standard of refereeing here is already by far clearly much lower than any men's tournament I have watched. It is undeniably substandard.

I can only assume from your post that you feel they shouldn't be held to and aim for similar standards when officiating is concerned? Why is that?

Canada gonna need to play a lot better, Sweden attack has caught the Canadian defence off guard quite a bit
