Maybe someone could start a new thread for complaining about prices?

There are limited seats in the dome. Playoffs mean that the demand is going to be significantly higher than the supply. The Flames have set a price on that basis.
As a STH I struggle at times to sell games against the Wild or Coyotes and have to eat a significant amount selling my tickets. I even give them out for free in such instances. The supply is higher than the demand and the open market acts accordingly. Flames just want a bigger bite of the actual pie. Even if the tickets were cheaper, they could be getting flipped at similar rates as what they are currently.

You should have seen the uproar here in Lethbridge over people charging for Canes tickets. Because of the World Curling Championships, the Canes has to play in a small venue that held 1000 people. So there was a lottery for season ticket holders to receive free tickets. There was no tickets for sale. Most tickets were used by the winners, but there we some that went for sale on swap and buy. The number of people who were mad that someone would have the audacity to sell free tickets was huge. Lol

You want to go to playoff games but you value tickets less than thousands of others willing to pay the current price.
Instead of simply accepting this, I commend you for taking the more difficult path of trying to convince everyone willing to pay more that they're fools...in hopes the demand curve eventually drops to a point you're happy with the price!

Personally, I am not surprised at the prices.
Basically, round 1 is priced as 2018-2019 tier 1 pricing with the playoff STH base price increased 60% over the STH pre-season/regular season base price.
At least with my season tickets.

Really puts the average age of this board into perspective. I took one look at the PL prices, chuckled, and turned back to my bowl of itchiban.
What I'd give to go to a playoff game! (besides you know, money)

This is spot on.
I remember back in 04, I was a 23 year old student with little to no disposable income trying to argue with Broncos guy to sell me a ticket at a lower price. I couldn't afford it so I watched the game on the screens on the Red Mile and had a great time. Now that I'm older and can afford to have season tickets, it's a different story. Being a "Big Fan" doesn't make you more deserving. The Flames are a luxury item, the Hitmen are the affordable option.
There's a finite amount of seats and the prices will continue to rise by the Flames and the resellers until the tickets no longer sell. Plus the Flames are really good now, so the on ice product is sold at a premium because we all expect them to make another long run. Selling tickets last playoffs when they came back 0-2 against the Ducks was not nearly as easy. Prices were lower and easier to find. When they went down 0-3 I sat beside a guy who bought a ticket minutes before the game for below ST cost.

The “real fans can’t afford it” argument is one of the strangest ticket price arguments in sports.
If someone is willing to drop a rent payment on a ticket, I’d have to admit to myself that people like that might just be huge fans themselves.

Define lots. In a venue of 19000ish, having less than 500 seats with about a week before puck drop is sold out.

There were a few tickets available. At 10:00 am they were just releasing the tickets to the email subscribers. They still haven't gone on sale to the public yet. As of right now there are 8 sections that have at least 2 seats side by side. Right now there are 22 pairs of tickets, plus some singles, for home game B. The game is 10 days away, and they still haven't released the tickets to the public. They are likely holding a few back for that, so if you go in tomorrow at 10:00 am, there will be more than that. The game will still be sold out well before puck drop. They'll also release tickets on game day which include the players, teams, media, and NHL tickets that were reserved but not purchased.

Ya I'm seeing about 13 seats available for game 2 right now. It may not be what people want but it's not looking like they priced them beyond what people were willing to pay.
I'm a pretty cheap guy, but even I have to admit that the only reason I even have season tickets is for these games. A big playoff win is up there with the most exhilarating things I've ever experienced in my life.
I get that they're out of many fans price range, and that sucks... but these experiences are worth $500-$1000 for many people. It would be nice if the Flames helped out the little guy, but it would also be terrible for business. Playoffs just aren't common enough that they can be riding the wave of good will.

Just scored a single ticket for game 1. Only singles remaining - so what better reason to dump the wife for the evening!

Yeah I could only find singles at around 11 AM this morning, which worked out for me because I was looking for a single ticket.
I wonder if they would be holding any tickets for the general public release scheduled for tomorrow?
If not, then these really did sell out quickly, price notwithstanding.
And while the ticket prices are high, for sure, there's nothing quite like the playoff atmosphere in the 'dome. It's special. And honestly, that's been a relatively rare experience over the last 30 years or so. I'm splurging on my one ticket!!

Quite certain they are. Tickets available can fluctuate on the day/hour/type of code you place in. This is always how TM and the Flames do it. So there will be an change and/or uptick in what's available tomorrow.

There is not even one single seat available in the Press Level for any of the 3 games! I guess $140 a seat was appropriately priced.

This is a perfect pricing model. If they got sold out right away, there is always the chance that they might have charged a bit less. If they get sold out in the day, it means that the pricing was well planned.

Even though there isn't any available as of right now, doesn't mean they are not holding some back for the general public tomorrow.
