Now it shows Goodrow with an instigator, so that's an automatic one game suspension. I don't think he left the bench to start the fight, so he shouldn't get the extra game that Lomberg got a couple of weeks ago.
Isn't there something about instigating in the last five minutes of game?
Also keep in mind that the NHL wanted more open ice hits, and wanted the refs not to overreact to hits. Bennett's hit wasn't late by much - it may actually not be late at all if the 0.6 seconds is written in stone. It was less than a second, but otherwise 100% totally clean and the kind of explosive hit that the NHL said it wants to see more of.
I also wonder what the game on Wednesday is going to be like. Remember the last time the Flames met the Wings? I have to imagine that there is lingering bad blood there still, but I guess we will have to see.

Really?
When did this begin or have i been oblivious forever?
I think the hit was late and unnecessary in a 8-5 game in the final minute. I expect a 1 game suspension but that being said I absolutely love it. This hit from Bennett is developing a team identity of toughness and togetherness.
Just like Lombergs suspension and Peters fine against Minnesota, I don’t mind it for team identity.

Yes, it's an automatic one game suspension unless the league reverses it. Goodrow's actions were virtually identical to Lomberg's in the Minnesota game, so it shouldn't be overturned.

Another game with a joke nhl officiating at it's best, that got out of hand, doofus on bench grabbing Hamonic from behind while the other jumps him, nothing nada from them, and Tkachuk getting suspended.

What a game!! Couldn't yell too much as didn't want to wake the granddaughter...(esp. while her parents are out partying!!).
Loved that Neal scored -- I think he *is* a heart and soul guy who's just had a run of bad luck and is finding his groove...hope that's true!! And really, really liked the ovation from the crowd - that's getting behind your players.
Enjoyable game - a little bit of a nail-biter at moments, but lots of fun to watch. Good way for the boys to go out of 2018. A little road trip now won't hurt; good bonding time.
Can't believe that the ref was standing in the corner *watching* the spear/slash/whack by Dell on Bennett. My wife didn't believe it until I ran it back, but it sure appears he is looking directly at the play, standing right in the corner to Dell's left.
Edit: now that I see the video from darthma it looks as if the ref looks away just as Sam skates in front of Dell. Sheesh.
Lol John Shannon saying league taking hard look at the hit right now. Why the #### would they be doing that right away? Is he making this #### up or what.
