Things that I remember.

First of all, his first ever NHL goal in the playoffs against the Hawks in 96, they rushed him to the flames after his junior playoffs ended, and He dressed for the overmatched Flames against the Hawks and showed us how good he was going to be.

Second Iginla fighting Shanahan. At the time Shanny was a complete beast, and Iggy didn't shy away, it was a slug fest and Iggy took a bit of a beating and he was wearing the Crimson mask, but it showed how tough he was.

Third the Handshake line with Linden, I mean I hate the Canucks just as much as I hate the Oilers, but Iggy making sure he got a proper sendoff showed just how classy he is.

Treliving it's not too late. He'll be in the building. Every one and their dog knows he wants to play. We can give Troy the boot. We can make noise this year and give the man one more run. /inner fan

Jarome did the stick tap calling for the pass that lead to Sakic's insurance goal at 10:10. Housley didn't look and just dropped it. I love that move. Works a couple times a season...

This is why my boys aren't named Hakan, Pekka, Miikka, Ville, or Roman. Or Zarley, Krzysztof or Valeri.

Man, I can't believe it's finally happened. Hope he enjoys his retirement. Legend. I would love if he joined the front office or coaching staff of a team and won a cup ring that way.

That's great, I've literally never noticed it before but he absolutely causes the turnover.

And I agree, I've always felt Iggy got the tip on the Sakic shot and as a result the Gold Medal hattrick.

If anybody from the flames past should have his # retired , it's iggy. If he ends up a "flame forever" then I fear "flame forever" will last as long as the flames are in calgary .

I'm really hoping that Ifgy tribute will end "forever flame"

It'll be nice if Iggy decides on July 30th he'll sign a 1 day contract to play one last time at the Dome to get the standing ovation he truly deserves before he retires.

The greatest player to ever don the Flaming C, dude deserves to have his number up in the rafters. He was the biggest reason I got into hockey, such an amazing guy was always willing to sign stuff for younger fans like me after the game.
