I've seen him jumping over a lot of tweets trying to get people talking about what he wants when they are clearly not talking about it in the specific thread. Bissonette called him out last night. Maybe looney tune was a little harsh, I will admit that.

On the Wilson suspension, usually they are announced by now. Could we just be seeing a fine? Will be interesting to see as there is a large faction that don't think it should be suspended.

Yeah, two hits like that to the head in this series is a little more than just coincidence. Both hits individually were ones where the benefit of the doubt could be given regarding questionable intent, but two hits like that makes it pretty hard to believe he's not out there looking to injure guys.

Without knowing specifically what Paul said, I can’t comment. That said, the two of them have history.

3 games for Wilson. That’s way too much imo.

I disagree greatly - it's spot on.

It's a 100% avoidable hit to the head. The video explains it perfectly.

Stupid play by Wilson, and it's a clear shot to the head - he goes in for the head. He had a clean check to make, and doesn't go for it. It's on him to throw a safe check, and Wilson is a repeat offender.

I think 3 games is a good call, could have been 4 or 5 but I am ok with 3. Thats a great detailed presentation from the NHL, leaves no doubt.

Look at some of his history:

http://www.sportingnews.com/ca/nhl/n...716bz7jw5z4fu7

The guy has a very poor history with this kind of stuff. Hits to the head, hitting from behind, kneeing, etc. Multiple players suffering concussions.

If you want to try to get some of that garbage out of the game you have to do something. Continually giving out fines, small suspensions or even nothing at all is obviously not working. The guy has a history and it came back to bite him.

If he was a player without that kind of history then I doubt he'd get much of anything. But when you see the same player with the same style of hits trying to hurt players, suffering injuries like Aston-Reese did I think the league has just had enough. They didn't give him the benefit of the doubt and I really can't blame them.

The reverse angle they had shows the directness to the head, which is against the rules.

I still think it’s a 1 gamer. Their video is suspect at best.

He gets 3 because he got nothing on the Doumlin hit and because he was smiling after.

Good, He should have been kicked from the game when he hit him. Shame on the refs for ignoring that. Then ad the Slu foot to Matta that lead to the GWG. Its sicking to watch the Refs play a major role in the out come of 2 games like this.
smh

Head was the initial and primary point of contact, the Pens player is injured (broken jaw) and Wilson is a repeat offender.

Dreaded trifecta justifies the 3 game suspension.

Should have given him 4 to end his series either way. (And I'm rooting for the Caps). No place in the game for shoulder -> head hits.

"As well as the subsequent medical diagnosis of a broken jaw"

Yeah, you just can't ignore that when deciding if the head took a major hit.

That was a complete head shot, anyone who has ever played hockey will realize that as a player you do not deliver a hit with the opposite shoulder of your momentum unless you are trying to injure. If he would have hit without that intention it would have been with his right shoulder which was with his momentum and it would have moved against the boards.

If he was skating backwards or parallel then the left should would have been the main point of contact but the fact the was moving diagonally forward to the player then last minute changed his angle to get “inside” was what made it dirty. He dropped his right shoulder then elevated his left and turned his body.

I think 2 would been okay if it’s somebody else but tack on a game for accumulating dirty plays throughout these playoffs.

Honestly tough to argue it’s not the head being the principle point of contact when you break the guys jaw.

Burkie does a great explanation about how he switches hitting shoulders unnecessarily and shows the predatory manner of the hit.

Made change my mind on the hit

The problem with the NHL and for that matter, NFL to a lesser extent is that the outcome and injury play more role in the suspension than anything. Had the penguin got up and skated to his bench and showed up on the ice 3 minutes later then we are talking about MAYBE 1 game. I could find 10 hits that targeted the head more so than this one this year in the NHL that didn't turn an eye. If I recall, didn't us flames fans get to watch a real gem against us which wasn't even a penalty?

Good lord. Another goal by Jake Guentzel to make it 1-0.

That gives him 20 points in ten games these playoffs. He is absolutely killing it.

Nobody watching the game today? Pretty even. Great series.

Edit: Nevermind. I guess at least Textcritic is watching, haha
