This is actually one area where I will agree with what Bingo was saying in the Gulutzan fired thread - Peters was hamstringed by a franchise in disarray, with a shoestring budget. I honestly haven't seen enough of the Canes to properly judge him, but at the same time, I think it is extremely unlikely that he wouldn't be an upgrade on Gulutzan. But at the same time, probably not nearly as much of one as AV would be.

We were 75% no not renewing but now A Big Step in the right direction as of April 17th. Who Trelivng hires next will be the deciding factor.

Can we maybe not hate Bill Peters before he even coaches a single game for our team? He's still employed by Carolina, he isn't even our coach and he may never be our coach.

Similar experience for me as a first year STH in PL. My cost worked out to be roughly $60/pair per game and when you factor in the food vouchers it's not an expensive night out. I would also add that I found the STH events worthwhile and added value for me (family skate nights, free tickets to a Roughnecks game, Commissionaire's luncheon etc.)
I always was planning to renew but with the coaching staff changes I am more confident and happy about it. Incidentally, at the family skate last night the reps said to expect the renewals to be out by the end of the month or very early in May.

We have to get our hate on for him.... flames management and ownership clearly reads the threads and saw how season ticket holders would not renew unless GG was fired. We need to make sure that they know we see little upgrade over GG in Bill Peters. I feel those that felt coaching was not the issue around Christmas will get on board with the Bill Peters idea. It makes little to no sense and Trelivings job will come down to this next coaching hire. I can promise you he will be turning over a few stones before he gets to another GG.
Although I do not think AV is the best coach for this team, he is certainly the safest bet for Tre to keep his job.

I'm clearly far more enticed because of the GG decision. It's doubtful we'll see a coach hired before renewal notices are sent but hopefully before renewal deadline.
I've always admired what Brad Treliving has done for the Flames. I consider him very intelligent, thoughtful and proactive. However, the last presser he looked demoralized and/or as Giordano stated in the herald extremely disappointed in the underperformance. I've not seen him so glum or down, and it could be due to the severity and intensity he takes it. Which may be a good thing versus complacency.
If the organization is listening maybe it is time for a new CEO as well, to clear the bad rift between ownership and the stadium debate. I keep wondering what this renewal letter will look like... some people think here's your two seats. We have one of two options the first the most expected:
We know it was a disappointing for fans this season, but we are righting the ship. 5% increase and we appreciate that you buy 2 seats, but don't expect anymore. K. King.
The organization needs to make changes. From coaching all the way up to how the experience is managed. We plan to get rid of the dodge trucks in the concourse destroying fan flow and do a temporary fix so washrooms are more accessible. We plan to get rid of the multi line for 5 urinal washrooms that are lined up for an entire period intermission as a result we need someone else to be in charge. I've enjoyed my time as the CEO and welcome a new and fresher approach along with a recharged and renewed Flames group and a positive and long future in Calgary.

I hope the choice for coach that Treliving makes is based on who is the best choice, not who is the safest bet for him to keep his job.

I received my Hitmen renewal notice a couple weeks ago. Price remained the same as 17-18. One $50 Flames gift card per seat plus one extra $50 gift card per account for early bird renewal by May 1.
I will renew my Flames tickets, much more happily now. But I hope they provide some sort of bonus, akin to the Young Guns days. I'm feeling pretty under appreciated as a customer these days.
Even before the coach change, I'd of most likely renewed my Flames tickets, grudgingly. I couldn't come to terms with losing 19 years of seniority.

Got a call from our rep today. Our ticket prices will be going up due to an increase in liquor costs and the rise in minimum wage. Apparently $10 a beer just isn't enough to keep up with liquor costs these days. We will NOT be renewing.

I'm confused, how does an increase in liquor costs impact season ticket pricing?

If ticket prices are going up due to liquor and minimum wage, I'm glad I'm cancelling now and not when the flames decide to slap us with a 250+M new arena worth of expenses to cover

That's funny. The $10/beer doesn't cover the cost. So they need to increase ticket prices to subsidize the liquor.

ha ha on the beer prices - do 6 packs now cost $60 at the liquor store. i'd bet their cost on that beer is likely $3 to $4 per glass.
do they also add cost to the season ticket holder for popcorn and big chief beef jerky?

That drives me banana's. Not so much the increase (while no one likes that) but the explanation. The Flames costs increasing or decreasing are not relevant to where they peg their pricing. What they deem the demand for their product and what price point optimizes their potential return is what dictates pricing.
If they think the market and their renewal rates can endure a price increase, cool beans have at it, but don't package it up in some garbage around liquor costs going up and the minimum wage, just friggin charge more. I'm sure they don't pass along the savings when #### gets cheaper, not that it ever does.

So for any ticket holders that don't drink, they have to subsidize alcohol for the ones that do? That is some of the most asinine reasoning I've ever heard of

It’s a ridiculousness reason by the Flames , but let’s not pretend for a second that the drinkers at the dome aren’t subsidizing everyone in that rink. Without $10+ dollar drinks and people being willing to pay it, your ticket cost would be at least double.

I'll keep on renewing until I get priced out when new building is completed. If it's like Edmonton, we'll see a large increase then. Similar seats but better concession areas.
Hopefully this season we see a freeze or only a small increase in ticket prices. To me it's good entertainment value and gets me a night out from the family.
