However, if the Flames try and sit back to protect this lead, they're gonna be in trouble. We need to get back on the forecheck, get in hard on TB's D, and get more pucks on net.
If they sit back/protect they won't be worrying about a tie, Tampa will continue to pour it on until they're up by a few and it's game over.

Solid period but they can't treat them like other teams in the second and third. Going to take more possession time in their end so that they don't have the puck and likely another goal or two.

"You have to develop your players to compete in this league " ... something the Oilers will never understand.

Not at all.
I did. Smith made several highlight reel saves and they carried the play. All good though. Could just be me! Lol

Edit: shots 16-7 Tampa

Tampa started to impose themselves towards the end of that frame but the Flames were pretty good for the most part.

I have to say the LIghtning play the game at a speed I havent seen this year, but again the Flames reacted fairly well though they were badly outchanced at the end of it all.

Cgy needs to find another gear or figure out how to slow things down a bit.

Good road period though against an extremely well balanced and very good team.

The Flames kept trying for a defensive zone exit by shooting the puck up the boards. Tampa figured it out and is closing the pass off. We need to be less predictable.

Yeah, Tampa seems to always have a guy playing pretty high, looking for the stretch pass.
