all you had to do was take the body. for once

Wild are weak as hell in their crease. They should have read that where they could have knocked Ferland down to the ice. Sadly we don't have the players for that...

I don't even know how to describe that ridiculousness. Stalock out of position, Brodin doesn't box out or take body, Winnik covering for Suter and looking lost

Stalock really played himself out of that situation.

How the hell does that not go in.

Why does the wild always get the “goalie that is just feeling it tonight”. Or “they chased another goalie away!” No in the middle like “they win a tough close game that didn’t go into OT.”

Mike Smith looks 9 feet tall and 5 feet wide
Gonna be tough getting anything past him tonight.

Time to start shooting at Smitty's blocker side
Clearly the glove side is invincible.

Starts with the teams leadership and setting the example
Suter needs to do that if you want anyone else to do it. otherwise you have one guy who ends getting his ass kicked in a scrum with no backup and he will eventually stop being that way.
But I agree with you.

I'm honestly pleasantly surprised, this team is playing well, PP excluded.

15 games over 36 days since the Flames last allowed more than 3 goals against.
Record in that time is 8-4-3 for 19 points and a .633 points percentage.
Continuing to play at this pace (which includes most of a pretty frustrating December) will result in 50 points from our next 40 games and 98 points on the season.

With regards to the PP, I swear i've been seeing Stajan on there lately or have my eyes been deceiving me?
If it is true, why?
You have a skilled winger with a good one timer in Mangiapane in the lineup, why not play him to his strengths? The kid is a scorer, a skilled player, use him properly.
I understand limiting his minutes on the 4th line and getting him accustomed to the NHL, but at least try him on the PP where his strengths are.

Stajan was on once during the time when the whole third line was in the box. That's it.

I don't think so. We have 4 forwards on the first PP. 1-3-1 formation, which is good if you have a Ovechkin on one side and Kucherov on the other. We literally have no one-timers to make this work. IMO they should go back to the standard 2 point dmen and let some shots from there.
Yeah seeing a perfect one timer play to Backlund who proceeded to do nothing with the puck epitomized their struggles pretty well.
Have to get shots off quickly and accurately. Hamilton and Monahan are the only guys that are really able to do that consistently (Stone tries, I'll give him that). Not enough pure shooters so we're left with endless passing or a turnover off a weak wrister that's blocked or deflected cause the opponent has time to get in front of it.
People really need to put this into perspective: on the road, against a conference rival for playoff positioning, and in a building where the home team has lost a grand total of four times in regulation. The pushback has way more to do with how good a team, and how desperate a team the Wild are now than it does with any supposed deficiency on the Flames.
Calgary played a terrific game and came away with a well deserved and hard earned win. It is unfortunate that they could not have ended the game in regulation, but there should be very little criticism or concern from fans coming out of this one.
