Given what Bishop got for six years, offer Mason 4 years @ 4.5 million.

Mason will be lucky to get half that, I think. But don't think he's a terrible option in a tandem situation. But you might as well re-sign Johnson if you're seriously considering Mason. Mason and Johnson are solid backups, who can still give you 30 games in an injury situation.

Antti Raanta is the closest thing to a Kipper on that list. And the Rangers have been a goalie factory of late.

Okay, I'm convinced, that's who I want now. $1mil, signed for next season only, 28 years old, potential franchise goalie. I think this is the only situation I'd be willing to take a risk.
Get Raanta, sign Johnson to a one year deal to ensure we have a legitimate back up plan. I'd go with a Flames prospect if you went with a "sure thing", but in this case go with a stable back up.

I sure hope one day soon the Flames don't have to trade stuff to get key pieces. So sick and tired of being an asset deficient organization.
Must be nice to win your 4th straight division title, then trade your 27 year old #1 goalie that you drafted in the 3rd round for 1st and 2nd round draft picks because your 22 year back up goalie that you also drafted is ready to take the reigns as your #1, and then you go ahead and win your 5th straight division title and make it to round 3 of the playoffs.

Cam Ward. Will come cheap. Don't sell the farm for someone like MAF

Again, it is too early to think that this is all that Bennett has to offer.

Agree. Someone posted quality of competition numbers and that convinced me. They gave him pretty rough match ups this year. Not worried in slightest.
You can't go full oiler and have all players be toe draggers.

I'd like to see if we could take a run at Schneider. Devils are going no where fast.
They could pick up an Elliott to see them through a rebuild.
I'd give up our 1st plus Gillies to get him.

The Oilers had to overpay for a guy like Larsson, but he solidified their weakest position and got them to make noise in the playoffs.
I think we need to do something similar to get Schneider.

You might be right but Oilers seemed to have a surplus of scoring forwards. Or atleast Hall had value. Where do Flames have a surplus?

I think the Flames should take a run at Miller on a 2 year deal. He still put up a respectable .914 save percentage behind a pretty terrible Nucks team.

What does this mean?
Here is a list of goalies who have played for NYR since 2012:
· Henrik Lundqvist
· Martin Biron
· Cam Talbot
· MacKenzie Skapski
· Antti Raanta
· Magnus Hellberg
Here is a list of goalies drafted by NYR since 2008:
· Scott Stajcer
· MacKenzie Skapski
· Brandon Halverson
· Igor Shesterkin
· Adam Huska
· Tyler Wall
Of all their goalies who have played in NYR the past five years, Skapski is the only one they drafted, and he has spent the past two years in the ECHL.
Of all their goalies drafted since 2008, Skapski is the only one to have played any NHL games (2GP), and only he, Stajcer, and Halverson have played for the Rangers AHL affiliate.
I think Cam Talbot's success is colouring your impression of the Rangers, who really do not have a stellar track record for developing their own goalies. Hell, since they drafted Henrik Lundqvist way back in 2000, Al Montoya is the most successful goalie to come through the NYR organisation.
As I mentioned previously, I am not that high on Raanta, who at 29-years-old and on his second NHL team honestly doesn't look much better than a good backup goalie. He is nothing close to what Kiprusoff was.

FWIW Raanta probably falls under Chicago's development umbrella along with Darling, Crawford, and Niemi.

I'm warming up to Mike Smith. If we could swing a deal for him, with Brouwer headed the other way, that'd be fantastic.

I think Bernier could be a solid option. He played well this season and the hype of him as an all star goalie has faded away, which could mean that a lot of the pressure is off.
