Solid win! I had a bad feeling the entire game. But the team pulled through. Flames dominated the OT. Too bad Backlund's goal didn't go in. That would have been highlight of the night.
I watched the Blues broadcast and Pang is one of the biggest homers I've ever heard. But what I did like was how he was calling out the refs both ways for the crappy officiating. Even mentioned how the playoffs are going to be a gong show with no one knowing what's a call anymore.
Elliott got a ton of love and was their broadcast's player of the game. Well deserved, and they absolutely love the guy. Bouwmeester doing what he does best and deflecting goals into his own net LOL

That was a great game. Loved the fact that the refs let the ticky tacky crap go, that's how hockey should be played. Fast, hard and if you get knocked down you get back up and keep going.
Man, that pit in the stomach while watching is equals parts awful as it is awesome. Love being worried about games again.
The sheen on Versteeg is gone for me. Too many games in a row he has been way to soft and lackadaisical to me. Don't really have other options but he's far from impressing me.
Liked the 4th line tonight, nice jam and cycled the puck well. No worries about Bennett from me, he will put it together.

That was a fun game with both teams going for it. Remember when the Flames couldn't beat the Blues at all the last few years? Meeting them this year was a little different. This team doesn't get pushed around as much as they used to. I think the Flames match up better this year against "big" teams better than they used to.
Elliot was solid. It was good to have Tkachuk back. I thought the bottom 2 lines got hemmed into their own zone too often, though. 3M line was great. 1st line was just okay.

I don't know if other people noticed it but if Tkachuk would've scored that it would've been right in front of his mom and his sister, they were sitting front row behind the net. What a stud this kid is and I have no problem using him in 3 on 3 and the PK. Foot speed looked fine on that play lol
People saying that Ferland wasn't spiffy tonight...
The guy was sick the last few days, (it was serious enough that the team thought he had the mumps.) Give the guy a break. He's an excellent player who is willing to be an enforcer while playing a top line role.

The St. Louis Blues play a rough game these days. They were big, physical, and mean all over the ice. Especially guys like Bortuzzo, Reaves, and Berglund.
More like the St. Louis Black & Blues...amirite?
You know what? Flames stood them up pretty well tonight. In a battle.of attrition, the Flames would certainly wear down much faster, but for this game tonight they did very well.
One of the aspects that SNET is really bad about that I feel doesn't get mentioned enough is their god awful picture/slideshow selections.
This is the squished monstrosity they broadcasted during tonight's game:
How is it possible for a collection of people that are responsible for broadcasting pictures to botch the aspect ratio like that?! It's incompetence to an insane degree.

Yeah, Sportsnet has been awful at that for a while now. It's downright comical. One of my favourites is this appalling Sutter image from early November:

Just got a chance to watch the OT as I had to leave after regulation and god damn what studs Monahan and Gaudreau are in OT. Huge win. Backlund was the best player on the ice tonight I thought.
I didn't see Tkachuk out there in the OT. I definitely would love to see him out there, that kid is frikkin awesome!
No, no you wouldn't......unless you'd like the Flames to automatically lose each game. He's not not (can you do that?) out there due to a lack of skill, he never sees the ice in 3 on 3 because he's literally way too slow, he'd be exposed so badly it wouldn't be funny.
And I really like Tkachuk, but unless his skating drastically improves, he should never see the ice on anything but 5 on 5 or a Flames PP.
