I don't think you will see much action from the Flames until the expansion draft. They need a #4 Dman, but no use trading for one if it means exposing someone to expansion. I think this year it will be true rentals (UFA's expiring this year) or maneuvering on goalies (Matt Murray).

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I think we see Brodie moved this year. His play has suffered under this system and that's ok.
The system works, and he is too good to let slip away or have his skill un-utilized.
With the glut of left handed NHL ready D, he's expendable.
I know he's a fan favourite but let's look past that.
He's the best tradable asset the Flames have.
- what is the return?

He won't be traded. If he is then I hope we get a Trouba like player in return. Flames have a great top 3 D and a pathetic bottom 3

No chance he's moving. If we move him, we have a huge hole on D, especially with Gio playing so bad this year. Trading Brodie isn't even a thought until one of Kylington or Andersson come in and show they can be top-4 d men.

Giordano would be the one moved, not Brodie.

Neither one of them is being moved.
Full stop.

We don't know anything, I still see the Flames moving a Dman for RW help.

I don't see us moving a defenceman for help up front. We'd be creating a bigger hole on defence than we current have on RW by doing that. It's illogical, especially with the expansion draft.

Not right now, but after the expansion draft is all done. If the Flames are still looking weak upfront thats when I see a move happening. I rather move Gio and keep Brodie and Hamilton as the 1st pairing.

May take some maneuvering, with regards to salary cap, but Karl Alzner would be a nice fit.
I should add, Alzner's a UFA at the end of the season.

Leafs claim McElhinney off waivers. Not a good sign for Ramo.

It won't be one of Gio, Brodie or Dougie Hamilton. If Flames do trade a D, will be one of the bottom D, which won't land a big RW.

52.6% on faceoffs and -3. Not a bad 4th line center for a struggling club...but a really solid AHLer.

If only we still had Hanowski, then we could certainly get this done.

Alright queue up your crazy Wideman to Tampa but it has to happen now to make sense proposals, McKenzie on the struggling Lightning:

“I’m not sure what Steve Yzerman does, because there are so many financial handcuffs he’s dealing with, and financial pressures that he’s dealing with. But maybe that also plays into the fact that it gives him something to play with. That he’s not going to be able to sign all of his players in the summer. Tyler Johnson is up. Ondrej Palat is up for a deal. Jonathan Drouin is up for a deal. Now, he’s not trading Drouin. But boy oh boy, just about anybody else up front might be a possibility if they could get a defenseman in that would help them. If they get Stamkos back later in the season we’ll see, but nobody is counting on that.

Smoke and mirrors! Drouin is on the move for Wideman, but it has to happen now to make sense.

I know it doesn't make any sense at all but I would just love to see a Cammalleri for Drouin deal.

I hate doing these but Brodie for Kucherov? Is that an even trade?

I don't think Tampa touches that with a ten foot pole.
