Anyone else want to comment on Brodie on the PP? Am I the only one who notices how terrible he is on the pp? And he's real soft on the PK as well.

Here we go again!!!!

Remember their dreadful start to last season?
Remember the Calgary Flames admitted it was their ultimate undoing, the reason they were playoff pretenders instead of invitees to the spring dance?
Well … we’ve got bad news, Flames fans.
Here they go again.
After Thursday’s 4-2 home loss to the Dallas Stars, the Saddledome-dwellers own a 5-9-1 record, exactly where they found themselves after 15 games — and about one month — of the 2015-16 campaign.

This season sure feels like last season.
I miss the Flames of 2 years back - the ones you had to always tune in for and stay with, even (especially) if they were down 2 with 5 minutes left in the game.
With this version, I find myself tuning into games and then watching maybe 10 minutes as it plays in the background and I do other things.
Inspiring they ain't, at least so far.

I sure miss the "never say die" attitude of the 2014/15 bunch. That team had swagger, and it was infectious from the top down.
Infectious would probably be a good adjective for this year's team as well, because watching them is about as much fun as contracting a communicable disease.

This is a poorly built hockey team. That's all there is to it.
I like Treliving for the most part, but can someone explain to me what Feaster did that was so bad? Lost a couple trades? That it?

It's not just that Feaster "lost a couple trades." He lost nearly all of his trades, some in spectacular fashion. Just look at what we have to show for Iginla and Bouwmeester as an example, two franchise players for whom the returns should have set the team up for years to come. Other GMs were starting to prey on the Flames because they knew the guy in charge would cave and take whatever weak-ass return was offered to him.
Besides that, he seemed incapable of putting his money where his mouth is, and combined with his constant drumming up of buzzwords and catchphrases du jour, he came across as a bit of a buffoon. He did some good work over his tenure for sure, but I definitely do not miss him and how he turned this franchise into a laughing stock.

I absolutely hate how the talking heads on the Fan 960 keep on describing these games as moral victories. **ck moral victories, this team is not winning. **cking fix this Glen Gulutzan.

This is a team that lacks 2 top 6 forwards, and a #4 and #5 defenseman.
Add on to that Brouwer is more of a high end 3rd liner than a 2nd liner and the other top 6 forwards are all very inexperienced and are having their own struggles. The team just does not have the talent up front to do anything right now unless they are pulling in the same direction. They are not. They make mistakes, the same mistakes, and they lose.

AltaGuy has a magnetic personality and exudes positive energy, which is infectious to those around him. He has an unparalleled ability to communicate with people, whether he is speaking to a room of three or an arena of 30,000.

Just brutal hockey to watch. I really do think we are in a position like Pittsburgh last year: our coach is making our good players bad players. I know that Stajan is not better than Monahan and Bennett, or that Kulak is not better than Brodie, Hamilton, or even Jokipakka.
Trade away one of these players, and watch them become in a matter of games the players we saw last season and the season before that.
It's the coach. Yeah, the players deserve some blame. But intuitively I think we all know: trade them elsewhere and they'll be good again.
GG has to go by Christmas in my opinion.

I don't think I can set aside 3 hours of my life to watch this team until they either start winning, or at least playing entertaining hockey. Zero power play goals at home in mid November is almost impressive it's so awful.
This team is doing basically nothing well and I'm shocked we actually have as many points as we do. The coaching staff looks like an absolutely colossal mistake (at every position) and our young core that we have committed to for the next 5+ years has been the worst part of the team. I know they can and have been better but the regression by every single player we deem important now and in the future is terrifying.
At least we've chosen to sewer our season before Remembrance Day in a season where the draft class looks as weak as it's been in years. Flames gonna flame.

I know we shouldn't be making rash decisions, but I really think one of Monahan or Hamilton is gone by the end of the the month.

It's the wrong thing to do. If anyone big gets moved, it has to be Gio. That contract should be moved before it's too late, and while we can still get good value. Part of the problem in the past here has been holding onto veterans to keep us in win-now mode when in reality, that was just a misguided dream. Trade Gio, and if Burns and Shatternkirk go UFA, go big game huntin'.
Yeah, I know it's reactionary and silly, but at some point reality has to set in and we have to realize we aren't as close as we'd hoped. We've got a lot of great young parts - but we need more.

It's not that I disagree with your concern about Gio's contract, but your strategy for dealing with Gio's bad contract is signing Shattenkirk or Burns to an even worse contract in free agency?? Those guys are going to get paid.

A huge catalyst for offense started from the D. The new system has completely neutered the D.

Its hockey. Feaster wasnt Burkes guy and Hartley wasnt Terlivings guy. Now the team is perfectly how they want it.
