Topped out just under 70 in Sundance. Most of the kids were pretty little but we did get a couple groups of teenagers that came around later. One Asian kid (looked like he was about 14 or 15) dressed as Elvis came by 3 times. He was with a group of smaller kids and his English was marginal so I wondered if he was an exchange student or a very new Canadian and I didn't make a big deal out of it. Traffic pretty well died off by 8:30 and I shut it down at 9 with very little candy left.

Anyone here in Chaparral? One of my sons went there with his friends and came back with 10.4 lbs of candy. Sounds like they hit the mother lode!

Weird. Maybe the kids were concentrated closer to the lake and some of the higher density housing.

That's what I would do if I was still going door to door panhandling for candy.

I didn't keep a tally but this was the lowest I can remember in recent years which is odd seeing the weather was decent. That said the last few Halloweens were on weekend nights which likely makes a difference as opposed to a Monday night. Lots of candy left over which is not good for my teeth.

Definitely over 200. I live in a pretty awesome townhouse area so its prime for Halloween. I think we would have had over 300 last year but we ran out of candy

There were quite a few great costumes, including some parents, but we got a lot of older kids wearing jeans and a hoodie. Why even bother?

I've heard a few people say that about last night, so I looked. Last night was the 2nd coldest Halloween in the last 10 years.

We had 22 kids in Copperfield. Just before I shut down I went out and saw 3 kids coming down the street; I was going to give them whatever was left. They never showed.

I was there yesterday around noon too and was floored by the number of kids. I've never been to a mall on Halloween before and was not expecting this at all. Meanwhile back home in Tuscany we had a grand total of 35 kids.

Was watching the news yesterday and in Summerside (Edmonton) there is a street that goes all in for Halloween and they were expecting over 1000 kids this year. That's insane.

We had 32 total this year, which I think is up from previous years. Taking my own kid out to trick or treat, I can see why kids avoid our street. Cul de Sac with 12 houses, and 3 of them were not handing out candy. Plus you have to cross a busy street to get to it, or you are walking along the side of the road which has no houses. In terms of houses per minute that you can hit, you commit 7-8 minutes to get 9 houses. Stick to a different area and you can easily increase your house per minute by 50% inside this neighbourhood. Go to a newer neighbourhood and I think it would double.

62 in Ranchlands.

A big hit was the free swimming coupons to city of Calgary pools that we gave out. Fyi you can get a 10 pack for $5, would recommend to anyone for next year.

Also nice weather? It was cold, very cold. Sure not snowing or anything but the temp likely cut down on.the # of little ones out and about.

We left early for a movie by 7pm, but we had a grand total of 0 before that in the Tri-Glen area. Now I get to be tempted by a giant box of candy all week

I'm surprised kids would be excited about free swimming coupons. Like how would you even get that kind of on-the-spot feedback? I would think they open their bag and have a slight feeling of disappointment as a piece of paper goes fluttering down. Where would the opportunity be in that transaction for you to even explain what it is you gave to them and then for them to tell you how awesome it is?

It's not like they're paying for swimming, anyway. Their parents do. And as a parent, if my kid got a free swimming coupon I'd be annoyed. Now they want me to take them swimming and we're super busy as is and I don't really want to flap around in some nasty cesspool anyway.

Of all the coupons you gave out, a very low percentage of them will be used, and of the ones that aren't used, 100% of those kids will be disappointed while the parents feel guilty.

Wish people would just stick to candy/toys (like the glowsticks).

We had just over 100 in Discovery ridge. We have some well decorated houses on our street. I know the kids and I did well, from the parents taking pictures. We made a pretty creepy large ghost that floated around in our upstairs window.

Teenagers came at 2130. One male was wearing a dress and a long wig covering his face. He stood really close to the door, had no bag, said nothing.
He started making moaning sounds. After an uncomfortable 20 seconds or so I asked if he wanted some candy. No response. I reached out to move his wig so I could see his face and he took off. Crazy kid. Gave his two friends the rest of my bowl.

Lots of great little kid costumes, many parents dressed up. Great night on our street.

15-16 in Shaganappi. About normal.

One little tike comes to the door. "GIMME CANDY!" I was tempted to say "NO!" and close the door or call the parents up from the sidewalk to get him to ask correctly but it wasn't worth it.

Also we had a ~12 yr old kid and a parent come to the door each holding a bag. I looked to the sidewalk to see if there was a young kid the mom was collecting for who had passed out, but no, she was collecting on her own.

Wow, you got a lot more than we did (also in Discovery Ridge). Are you down on the main street?

No, just off the main street. Gardens. Crazy amount of kids live on our small street (40-50), plus we are close to a group of great houses that back on to the forest on the main road. Not sure is you know where I mean, but they do halloween right. Sound, fog, effects, etc.

We are trying to keep up with those guys, I think they get huge crowds.

It actually ticks me off when people don't follow Halloweening convention. Trick or treating shouldn't start too early or go to late, and it's for kids and early teens. Dress up, say trick or treat and thank you, and be on your merry way. It's not that hard.

People are giving you free candy/chips. Don't make it awkward for them.

Its hard times out there man, that candy has to feed her family for the rest of the month.

About 60 kids which were almost all before 7pm for some reason. Candy for the kids, hot chocolate for the parents (which they all seemed to appreciate). Next year debating whether to replace the hot chocolate with wine
