Are you being obtuse? My original post said that was
part of it. As in there are several, obvious factors to anyone who's remotely aware of the situation.
Monahan and Gaudreau both missed camp. They both have the expectations of signing those new expensive contracts, both stepped into a completely new system with a new coach attempting to hit the ground running, and haven't had a stable line-mate.
All of those things contributed to their slow start.

It didn't work out fine. We missed the playoffs and that line was largely neutralized on the road. There's no doubt they can carry the load between the two of them but it's outright ridiculous to deny the fact finding a stable line-mate with chemistry would bolster their production. As I said in my original response that prompted your 'fanboy' comment, I don't think that's Chiasson. That's my opinion. Whether or not someone on the roster will find stable chemistry and stick with them remains to be seen, but it's something that's going to need to happen to see the team have success this season.
