Sam Bennett has been good, probably the best forward during this road trip. I'd just like him to use his teammates more. Kid has lots of potential.

Default Flames crush Blues 4-1. Snap 7-game losing streak in St. Louis

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson

Not sure when it was added, but #Flames LW Matthew Tkachuk now credited with an assist in first game in hometown of St. Louis.

The team is playing pretty sound hockey and yet Gaudreau, Hamilton and Brodie can still improve.

And Monahan. His struggles compound with Gaudreau's.

This road trip couldn't have come at a better time. Good to see the boys turn it around, keep it up!

Monahan had a couple chances. But moreover, he played very well defensively.

Very sound road game. Bennett played very well, that's great to see. I had worries about our 2nd line without him stepping up this year. Versteeg looks way more comfortable on that 2nd line.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come, the team looked great tonight.

Sammy heating up now with 5 points in 8 games.

And didn't even notice but also Stajan has 4 assists in 8 games. Didn't realize his resurgence was also showing on the stats sheet. Good for him!

Just looking at the stats for the team, it seems like everyone is producing. I'm liking this depth.

I can't remember the last time I seen such a complete defensive flames game. That second period was perfect. The compete level was there and that was the biggest thing missing for the new system to work. Huge credit to Wideman for not pinching and being more defensively responsible, and he got a goal on top of it! Also credit to Gulutzan, short passes work! Pretty much beat the Blues at their own game! I like it!

Stajan is probably playing his best hockey in flames colours. The entire team has settled down and playing as a team. Beating the Hawks and Blues in back to back games is a great way to get the players to buy in and trust the system.

If this is what the Gulutzan system is supposed to look like, sign me up for a full season of it.

Just listening to some of the player interviews, it seems like they do trust the systems, it was just a matter of making less mistakes.

Gio and a few others said the guys sat down together and had "players meeting" after their big loss on Saturday. Told each other to limit turnovers, play a north south game and reset from the past.

It seems like the Flames have a real tight and dedicated group of players, carrying the past philosophies of Bob Hartley's "Never Quit" and transitioning that aspect into a more refined X and O's system.

Great gap control and spacing, absolutely fantastic defensive hockey. Guys backchecked and filled lanes perfectly, back side pressure forced plays to the boards. It was a a great game plan that was executed properly.
