One more time - with average goaltending last year, the Flames contend for a PO spot. They now have that or better, plus what looks like a legit second line, and they have a second year of Backlund and Frolik together. Hamilton has a year here under his belt and was steadily improving. The fourth line is the fourth line, but no worse than last year.
They contend for a PO spot and probably make it.

It sounds like Ferland is having another pretty strong game. He's my early pick for the top line. I thought he was okay there last year, and he looks better to me this preseason.

Ferland looks dangerous so far, Chiasson works hard but doesn't generate enough to warrant more than 4th line with some 3rd line ice time I'm thinking.
Vey should be AHL. He's very frustrating.
Higgins still completely invisible.
Elliott is such a calming presence. Its a weird feeling as a Flames fan.

Sounds like the flames are getting lots of chances but there's just no finish. Is that worrying? I know its preseason but it would be more comforting to see them finish off some of those chances going into the season.
