Didn't someone have an ''inside source'' that the deal(s) would be announced last friday?

IIRC that was an unverified Twitter nobody account.

I would be astonished if these two go to the World Cup without contracts.

For the love of Lucifer let's just get this thing done already, it's getting annoying at this point.

This guy is obviously an insider. He's "hearing" things from the Monahan camp.
Silly Monahan asking for 0.5 mil over perceived market value.
How many goals do Monahan's comparables have?

Are you suggesting he's critiquing his text?
I have been just avoiding thinking about these signings, at this point no team can sign monahan to an offer sheet we can't afford to match and gaudreau is in as "bad" of a bargaining position as he can be so it's going to likely go until close to the start of the season, the agents know the flames are poised for a good year or at the very least a much better one than last year and that management will pay a premium to avoid a possible distraction to start the season. It's all just negotiation tactics at this point. The players keep saying they want to stay, so that will put even more fan pressure on the flames to give them what they want

It may be pedantic, but my point is really that the silence in this thread is a good thing under the circumstances, and that even needless, seemingly harmless declarations of wish or hope are just as counterintuitive as statements of concern. In other words, meaningless "bumps" to a thread dedicated to this highly emotional topic are a distraction, and best left unspoken. With no news to report, why bother?

Still not panicking. I view the time it's taking as a good thing. Just making sure that they get the right deals done, especially considering how large they'll be.
Still, be nice to have it done now so we have something to talk about in August

Johnny himself said that his deal should be done soon.
Honestly they're probably just figuring out or waiting for the best time to announce the deals and make sure they guys are there in person at the presser.

6.5-7 for monahan would be a dissapointment. He should get 6 or below.
Gaudreau on the other hand i would expect 7-8 mill

Monahan is a 21-year-old #1 centre for one of the deepest teams at centre in the NHL. He's scored 30 goals, 60 points (twice), and is a fantastic leader on and off the ice.
There's no reason he shouldn't get over $6 million. I'd be fine with $6.5.
If they got matching 8 year, $56 million deals I'd be fine with that.

personally i think he should get the same as barkov or mackinnon. 6.5 is a bit to high for me.

Treliving should put a Mackinnon bobble head in one hand, a Barkov bobble head in his other hand an put them behind his back. Monahan says "right hand" or "left hand". Whichever bobble head he gets, he gets the same contract as that guy. Negotiation over, everyone heads to Earls for lunch to celebrate with no need to argue over who covers the tip.

If you're looking at comparisons with Mackinnon, Barkov and Tank i'd expect something like:
$6MM x 8 years for Monahan
$7.5MM x 8 years for Johnny
That's assuming no discounts are taken. I think we're all pretty confident that Monahan is gonna get around $6MM. I'd be surprised if Johnny took less than $7MM.

At this point I'll be shocked if we can sign Gaudreau for 8 years. I have a feeling that's the sticking point.
I'm guessing shorter term for less money. Which sucks.

if Gaudreau can't be signed for 8 years, I sure hope it's for 4 years or less. the window starts closing at the end of Brodie's contract anyway, so if worse comes to worse, and Gaudreau needs to be sent east, he'll still have RFA value. He absolutely cannot be set to become a UFA at 27 like Stamkos.
