About Prince's humanitarian side. Also explains why so many people are only talking about him now, apparently he was just that private.

Also of note: Youtube seems to have Prince videos again. Interesting to see if they keep taking them down like they used to.

Those who haven't seen them should probably take the opportunity. Here's a few of my favourites.

The Little Red Corvette video that was posted on the day he passed and had something like 2 million views was recently taken down by Web Sheriff - the UK company that Prince hired to erase his content from the internet so it could possibly still be happening. I hope their contract expires soon.

Ill throw in Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney. Maybe not quite as prolific.

It is being reported that Prince's sister has confirmed that he did not have a will. It is pretty crazy that he had no will and the situation will surely become an ugly legal mess now.

Wouldn't all of his assets just be split equally among his siblings?

Also, what happened to the AIDS rumor?

Assets are pretty easily dealt with but the fact that he didn't have a will to cover his music is interesting. He seemed to be very guarded of his music and now the decisions for all of his unreleased music could be made by someone else.

Yeah, that's very strange. He was a huge control freak, I'm surprised he wouldn't try to retain some control, even posthumously.

I don't know the law in Minnesota, but in Alberta the estate would go to the closest living kin if there is no will.

In Prince's case I think he just has the one sister. I believe he was married twice and divorced twice. Both of his children died.

His sister struggled with drug addiction and became a prostitute. Prince tried to help her many times by getting her into rehab. I think she is clean and sober now.

I'm also surprised there is no will, given the size of his estate, and his great desire to control his intellectual property. I would have thought too he would want to make substantial bequests to the JW Church.

During his life he was a great philanthropist (almost all of his giving was done secretly). I wonder how his charitable funds will be impacted.

It will be very interesting to see what happens with his music. He has vaults full of recordings. The Zappa estate was careful in guarding and releasing Frank's legacy.

I heard that he had six (I think it was six) half-siblings and under Minnesota law a half-sibling is the same as a, umm, regular sibling.

Admittedly, I was listening to this while doing something else, but where exactly is the tribute? Aside from the purple stage lighting, I don't hear anything...

^ It's just the instrumental during the purple lighting. Gilmour played the full version during a set in the 90s you can find on youtube as well.

Here's something strange, Hans Zimmer on guitar?

I think we're slowly starting to see the tip of the iceberg of this problem. If people could see my end of the opioid crisis they'd be shocked

I haven't heard anything to substantiate AIDS rumours. It looks more like a Michael Jackson type scenario, where he accidentally overdosed on pain meds.

As I tend to do when an artist passes, I start listening to their collection and I must say a lot of his stuff hasn't aged well. I get that he's a fantastic musician and all but I don't think his overall library holds up to some of the greats. He's got about 10 songs that still stand up but some of his 80's hits were crap IMO.
