Dammit Colborne, learn will you! The last game you played, there was a goal called back because you got too close to the goalie and now you've cost us another one. Pay attention to where you are going!

Was he really in the blue though? I only saw it once, but he looked outside.

Uhh the call against LA was brutal. Colborne had zero fault in that.

Right on the edge, or partially in.

Yeah, how dare he do his assigned job by using his frame and blocking the goalie as a key piece in a power play.

He did, because he let himself drift into Quicks paint and thats why Quick made contact and thats why the goal was called back. What the issue was on that play was that the puck was going in anyway, contact or no contact.
But it doesn't change the fact that Colborne had no awareness of where he was on either play.

He doesn't need to be in the crease.
Quote:
Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking
player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper’s
ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an
attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a
goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact
with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when
such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the
attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact
|
Colborne prevented Talbot from defending his goal, and made 0 effort to avoid the contact. Good and easy call.

Colborne was only slightly in the blue, but he also made direct contact with the goalie while not trying to avoid him, which led directly to the opening for the goal to go in. That's as obvious as goaltender interference gets without the guy flat out going for a body check on the goalie.

Left leg was inside the blue and contact was made inside the blue.

Colborne is doing what he is told, and that means in close.
Sucks that he got in too close, but I don't want him backing off

So I am a long-time hockey fan, but after all these rule changes over the years, I have one painfully basic question:
What role does the crease have in NHL rules?
