Good they deserve the coverage, its the first time in 25 years that the whole country can get behind one team(in a Major professional league) and have hope that they can bring home a championship. I understand not everyone is a fan of baseball but nothing beats national pride 162 games a year!
Go Jays!
Back on topic, I enjoy the playoff coverage so far, able to watch all games and have the american feeds to boot.

I didn't mind last night's coverage. Generally I can't stand Sportsnet, but it was decent last night. Any time you can hear the crowd it adds something to the game.

Not sure what game everyone was watching, but the Rangers/Penguins game was the MSG feed not a Sportsnet feed (that was on the main Sportsnet feed in Ontario)

Weird. so Sportsnet had their own feed/announcers for the Pens game but only on SNO? I never flipped over to that one.

I watched all three. Even the ONE SNet feed has decent crowd volume (the Tampa one). The MSG feed and CSN (?) feed had nothing to do with SNet, but still.

The Rangers-Penguins game had the MSG crew on all four regional Sportsnet feeds. During the intermissions, Sportsnet could have its announcers if it wants instead of simulcasting MSG.

I was also wanting to comment on the PBP and analyst coverage during the playoffs. I don't recall CBC ever having a separate feed and the US PBP/ analyst guys on the Canadian broadcast.
Call me old fashion but I like to hear familiar voices when watching the games. I know I know guys like Healy are awful but at least they are consistently awful.
This is starting to look REAL budget ! Seems like the NHL just cares strictly about the $$ and product quality be dammed. The NFL wants the revenue AND quality so they can parlay the deal into better fan experience / more revenue.
Ahh well. Only a decade to go

so only using 3 of their own announcing crews has to be sportsnet cutting costs
didn't they use more in the first round last year?

Yes, Sportsnet had five crews last year. Dave Randorf and Rick Ball were the other play-by-play commentators.

Ahh I hadn't heard Hughson and didn't want to assume.
Would seem pretty odd to not have him working though.
Honestly though, the best potential series has the local feed for St. Louis. The second best potential series has Romanuk. It's bush league, but I guess it's what we should expect at this point. Sadly it's only going to get worse as that $5.1 billion price tag gets further and further from getting recouped.

Hughson is calling the Flyers-Capitals series. I have been complaining vigourously to Sportsnet about not having Randorf and Ball each calling a series.

I have NHL Game Center (I'm in BC) and stream the games. It's great. I can watch all the games.
I also wanted to dispute the notion that the US feeds are so much better than the Sportsnet feeds (at least in terms of PBP quality). The level of homerism in the feeds I've watched so far has been incredible. It's been so bad that I've flipped to the other channel (also US) to see what the opposing PBP team is saying about certain contentious plays. And of course, they say the exact opposite.
"That's a penalty all day every day" vs. "the refs really dropped the ball on that call".
