Wow, this is really sad.

I'm in for a CP donation or flowers, etc. Let me know who to send the money to.

Wow. That's shocking. I didn't know him personally, but I always thought he had insightful and respectful posts.

RIP.

I'll chip in for a CP donation as well.

Wow, that's jarring. Never really knew the guy, but we seemed to end up in a lot of the same threads together.

Hate hearing that, RIP.

A buddy of mine has a little sister who posted that she lost a friend on Facebook. I didn't think much of it until somebody mentioned he was a Churchill grad. Sure enough it's sadly the same guy. Small world. Sounds like he was a great person.

Sad news.
It's amazing how you feel close to member of CP, without ever meeting in real life.

My condolences to his friends & family.

Very sad to read of the passing of someone so young. Amazing how connected you can feel to people you've never met.

RIP Splatman

Default RIP to one of Calgarypuck's own. Phanuthier.

Hey guys. I knew Edward personally. I have been feeling like crap the last few days. He's been on my mind so much. Edward was an amazing person. He was truly a gentle soul, very giving, thoughtful and passionate about life.

Edward contacted me many years ago via CP to tell me how much he loved my wedding work. He said that one day when he found the right girl, he would hire me to shoot his wedding. He kept that promise so many years later. He flew me and my assistant down to Lake Tahoe for his amazing wedding. We spent a glorious 3 days together shooting, chatting, eating, drinking and climbing. After the wedding he took us rock climbing on the way back to Sunnyvale. Dude was a crazy rock climber and I got to follow his international adventures in rock climbing on Facebook. He introduced me to the sport and I will never forget the confidence he gave me to conquer my fear of heights. As some of you know, I have ventured into a new business (tech related) so I would pick his brain about life in the Valley and was hoping to visit him and his wife this summer.

I found out about his passing from his wife 1 hour after they took him off life support. It felt like someone just hit me with a bat in the stomach. Even though we weren't close, I still have a special place in my heart for Edward. After all, how many guys pre-hire you for their wedding even before they have a girlfriend? RIP buddy. I hope there are mountains for you to climb wherever you are.

As most everyone on the board has stated it is very sad and very shocking. Eddie's time from those early days (2002) when I used to post a lot was filled with thoughtful insights. Always enjoyed reading his posts, replies, or getting a thanks from him.

I am also broken up as I was sitting in the front row next to the penalty box for the Flames/Sharks 6-5 game in San Jose. I wished I could have met Eddie in person and thanked him for all his time on CP and what a great poster he is. I was in the Bay Area that week on business and did not even realize that Eddie and I are both in the semiconductor industry (small world), hence the free tickets in the front row for the game on February 11th.

On a personal note, it is difficult to not be emotional as my 3 year old son suffers from fever induced (Febrile) seizures and it is scary and painful as a parent. It makes me more scared having lost Eddie.

I wish I could have said all this to you in person, but you are in a better place and I definitely miss you Eddie. Rest in peace and my sincere condolences to Eddie's family.

Damn, RIP Phanuthier.

I come on CP for news, opinions, and general discussions, and totally recognize a lot of his posts.

One thing I could say is no matter how often we debate, seeing this thread has made me appreciate so many people on here and how much everyone contributes. To me this is really an awesome community to be part of.

This is such terrible news to hear.

I've been a long-time lurker (well before officially creating a handle in 2008) and I've always enjoyed reading Phanuthier's posts. He always seemed very insightful and just seemed like he would be a really cool guy to hang-out with in-person.

My condolences goes out to his family. R.I.P. Phanuthier.
