Is there a reason they can't move the Open at least one week out? It's kind of silly to be missing most of the biggest names. And probably the only reason DJ was there was because Wayner made him go lol.

Canadian Open is locked into it's slot on the schedule, and even without the Olympics it's a horrible spot. Normally would be a WGC event the following week, so the Canadian Open is simply destined to always have weak fields outside the RBC sponsored guys. The chances Rory or Spieth ever appear at one is slim.

Further to SCD post, imagine what the field would be like if RBC wasn't so involved in sponsorships

We just need to get Titleist to somehow sponsor the event, then it'd be a top level field. The Champions Tour event here almost has a better field (or at least a bigger name field).

Phil just had one of the most Phil holes ever. OB off the tee, nearly OB on the re-tee, way over the back right into a terrible lie, great putt, saves a triple bogey 7.

So this is gonna be a wild final round. Lift, clean and place is in effect, they didn't re-pair tee times for the final round so for instance Emiliano Grillo is in a T-15, but he's off second last in the final round with Jason Day. And it's a tight leaderboard with some big names out there and with a very soft course the chance for someone to post a 64 or better is pretty good. Also probably will finish tomorrow based on the weather forecast.

The Flames/Sportsnet sound guys appear to be working for TNT now because they have some horrible sync issues between the audio and visual. The audio is noticeable ahead of the video this morning. Hopefully the CBS coverage that starts soon is much better.

Unreal how poor Hideki Matsuyama putted today and didn't make a bogey.

Walker is adding some drama by going in the rough on 18. I don't understand how you don't hit a 7 iron from the fairway with a wedge into the green and play for the easy par and win.

I would have preferred to have been in Streb's position. He still got it done though.

BREAKING: Nike announces it is ending its golf equipment business. No more clubs, balls or bags. Business just way to challenging.

Bet they wished they'd held back on giving Rory such a huge deal. Just shows what a monster Tiger was in his prime that he single handily made Nike Golf relevant.

So Jim Furyk just shot 27 on the front 9 and is -11 thru 12 holes. I used to do that in Tiger Woods pretty frequently.

Furyk shoots a 58....the lowest round in PGA history.
Unbelievable.

Its not a "hard" course by PGA standards but it isnt exactly mini golf either. It is quite short however but somewhat offset by hazards and a lot of trees and is played as a par 70 for the pros.
In fact, Furyk himself was over par both yesterday and Thursday on the same track.
Today he had 1 eagle 10 birdies and 7 pars on his card.
Just an amazing round of golf. Historic to be more accurate.
