I was just popping over to post this, there's a lot of new stuff in this trailer.

I did laugh about the Stormtrooper getting pushed around by the Imperial Army officer. Poor Storm Troopers are supposed to be the elite of the empire. Like the USMC in the US Navy structure, but they just seem so hopeless.

Well...I'm falling for the hype again. The Force Awakens was good, but not the true Star Wars film people have been hoping for since ROTJ. This it? Really loving a lot of the attention to detail I'm seeing here. Hopefully it's a solid script that doesn't rely entirely on "a stormtrooper with a slightly different kind of armour". Yes, I know they've already introduced the stormtroopers with slightly different armour, but hopefully the story holds up as well.

After I rewatched the Force Awakens I thought it was pretty crappy. Nothing in Act 3 makes sense. The movie is significantly worse because of it trying to pander to fans. It's a movie with a deep sense of needing to be loved. When you hold that movie up to the light it looks pretty bad.

Yeah, I watched Force Awakens again last night, and it is terrible. Really unwatchable except for a few key characters. This could actually be good.

It's funny how that works. In the theatre, the Force Awakens was great! Now, a majority of people rewatching it are not very impressed.

Hope Rogue One goes in a unique/creative direction.

To be honest it's one of the untold stories of Star Wars that really needs to be told, they didn't even cover it very well in the Legends EU.

That's the gritty almost faceless battles on the thousands of different planets in the GFFA. Where you see the Storm Troopers and Imperial Army fighting the Rebellion in nasty dirty long protracted man against man battles.

They really tried in ROTJ but you never got that true sense of desperation because you had major heroic characters who never freaked or fell apart in battle. Even in the PT you always had a jedi to turn the battle. TCW did the best job of it because of the focus on Clone Troopers. The Umbari storyline was amazing to watch because it was the Clones against desperate odds fighting their own battle between the normal.

When I look at science fiction series, two really stand out. DS9 when they were fighting the founders and they had the one episode at a Federation outpost where wave after wave of enemy troops attacked and whittled down the Federation troops and characters who had been developed were effected by the battle (Nog gets his leg blown off for example)

The other great example was in Wing Commander Lore with the battle of Repleetah. which was this 10 year battle fought to the last man and Kilrathi where the Navy and their own governments abandoned the fight and let them battle it out to the end.

Yeah TFA was garbage. At least that's what all the misogynists say.

If they wanted to make it good, they should have done an all female remake. That's the only path to success.

Also, I hate popular things. But only after enough time has passed that people won't attack me for it. I just pretend to jump on the hype train at the time to seem cool, but secretly I hated it all along.

Except Avatar. That #### is the bomb.

I just watched the clip again, and there's another scuffle going on in the room between a stormtrooper and an Imperial officer. Probably rebel scum in disguise.

..but yeah, stormtroopers never look very good when the heat's on.

I believe that I came out against TFA at the very start.

I thought you badmouthed before it came out but then ended up liking it.

Or maybe I'm thinking of a different movie.

I liked it well enough. I'll probably watch it on netflix tonight. It had some pretty major issues but had enough going for it that I liked it.

My post was meant in jest but there is some truth to it. TFA was easy to love at first because it wasn't a massive letdown like the prequels. But over time I think most people have realized it was only serviceable and hope for better from the other sequels and offshoots.

reminds me of that last trailer they did for TFA

wish more big movies would do this, it doesn't show anything in context so the movie isnt spoiler but you see great things and get to hear things like that quote from Jones saying

Then if you're too respectful of it, that you then don't do anything new, different, or take a risk, then what are you bringing to the table?

There was but only the people in attendance saw it, it will probably hit theatres in the next couple of months.

So if this is pre-Episode 3, Obi-Wan is still a hermit, Yoda is still hiding in a swamp, and Luke is still sulkily farming moisture. . . . So why is anyone in the Rebel camp saying "May the force be with us"?

It's probably just a common phrase akin to "Good Luck"

Pre-Episode 4, but didn't they say that ahead of the attack on the Death Star? I mean despite what Han said, it's very unlikely people forgot about the army of superheros (Jedi) after 15 years.

You had leaders of the Rebellion that had been around for the twilight of the Jedi. and their extermination through Order 66. On top of that one of the leaders in Bail Organa knew about the new hope in potential jedi who were going to knock Palpatine from his thrown.

It would be similar if one day all priests were exterminated, people would probably say God Damnit when they stubbed their toes.
