There have been four hat tricks scored in the NHL since Sunday. Three of them were scored by rookies: Sam Reinhart on Sunday against the Jets; Max Domi on Tuesday against the Oilers; and Bennett.
The Flames have had four hat tricks this season (Frolik, Gaudreau x 2, and Bennett). Only Arizona has had more, with five.

the 4th goal was the nicest of the 4....a straight DANGLE.
#1 was a nice shot placed high by a player who knows how to score...
#4 was a player straight imposing their will on the game.

The back hand on the hat trick goal was ridiculous too. Two sick back hand snipes on the 3rd and 4th goals.

AC - Did you get a clip of Engelland "lifting the monkey" of Bennett's back after the second (iirc) goal? The Sportsnet guys showed it early in the first intermission.

So it was a great game for the Flames, a shutout for the struggling goalie in his first start in a month, a 4 goal night for the snake-bitten rookie, the whole team plays well and this is what you've got? A post about a guy who didn't play?

That was an unbelievable game to go to see live. Sam Bennett just killed it. Getting his jersey for sure.

I'm so happy I stayed up to watch the game, even though I was exhausted.
Classy Flames, just classy, especially after the 4th Bennett goal.

Yup. As filthy as a goal that was, my respect for Wideman just went through the roof for him. This is why you have veteran guys on a rebuilding team.

Whats the issue with skating by the bench? I can understand its a 6-0 game but it's about a team congratulating a teammate so I don't see how its rubbing it in or being disrespectful. Bennett also had zero celebration after he scored the goal which to me shows way more class and respect. I got no issue either way but I can't recall ever seeing a player not skate by the bench.

It had to do with the time on the clock as well - "they're beaten, the game's over, let's just drop the puck and let them go to the room".

Part of it probably had to do with the kerfuffle after the Vancouver OT win the other night, and wanting to avoid a similar situation.

Ya this makes more sense to me and was the only thing I could think of. If it was like a minute or under of time left.

I think the whole skating by the bench thing is incredibly stupid to start with, but I am old, so get off my lawn!
