Avalanche trades as a bubble playoff team

In:
Boedker - UFA
Matthias - UFA
Gelinas - signed for one more year

Out:
Tanguay - UFA
Bleackley - former 1st round pick, could be a 2016 2nd round pick if not signed
Wood - former 3rd round pick
2017 3rd round pick
2016 4th round pick
AHL player

If Boedker walks, pretty bad asset management.

The Boedker trade was really puzzling for me. I really didn't see it from Colorado's POV at all. The team clearly needed top 4 defense and quality bottom 6 depth and they acquire a pending UFA 2nd line player when they are a bubble team? Just goes to show that former great players don't necessarily make great GMs. In fact, it seems like they rarely do.
