Sometimes it takes a low point like that before you can turn things around. I am old and my memory is foggy, but I believe when the '85-86 Flames had their 11-game losing streak, it ended with a 9-1 loss to Joe's Bar and Grill Peewee Creamery Kings (‘B’ Squad). After that they pulled their socks up all the way out of the subbasement and got real.

EDIT: Just checked, and it was actually a 9-1 loss to Hartford. So, the Peewee Creamery Kings ‘A’ Squad.

At this point, though, I'm not surprised that the special teams still suck. There's only so much practice time to go round, and there were many problems that more urgently needed fixing. Last year, 21 percent of the goals scored in the NHL were on the power play. If your whole team is broken, you need to fix the other 79 percent of your game first.

The team is looking super confident in front of Ramo and vice versa. Its so refreshing to see the team actually trend up from last year. If we get the pp figured out we will see just what this team is capable of.

I'm happily eating crow on Ramo.

He truly is a nice person and I'll be the first to admit I've been too hard on him sometimes. He looks fantastic these last two games.

It's crazy how much I'm reminded of Kipper when I see Ramo in the new gear.

Did someone call the master of cherry-picking? I'm here!

Flames are +11 @ 5-on-5 since Oct 31 (The Return of the Ramo)

That is the best mark in the NHL since then. 2nd is Boston @ +10 and we have a game in hand on them. Third is a tie between Dallas and Washington @ +9. Yep, we've got games in hand on them both too.

Boston is a damn good team BTW. Could be a dark horse ECF or SCF team.

It's amazing what difference a goalie confident in his team and a team confident in their goalie makes. No chance Dougie scores that goal if he's worried about Ramo letting in every shot, team chemistry is a thing despite how much certain posters want to deny it.

Part of the reason for the Flames early struggles

Thus far through 31 games

13 games vs 1-10th (15 remain for the rest of the season) Record: 7-6-0 (4 W on this streak though)
10 games vs 11th-20th (12 remain) Record: 5-4-1 (2 W on streak)
7 games vs 21st-30th (24 remain) Record: 3-4-1 (1 W on streak)

Great game by the Flames.

To walk in to the best team in the league's barn and steal two points on the backs of Ramo and some secondary scoring (Hamilton, Raymond) shows some character.

Special teams are still a concern, but I'm just happy with winning.

They have short memories indeed.

Sharks fans have been like that too. Talking like it's still 2009 or something.

1 season prior:
Calgary - playoff team
Dallas, San Jose - NOT playoff teams

Why are we suddenly considered basement fodder? How about some respect.

I don't think Karri is a great or really stand-out goalie, but there has always just been something about him that I like. I feel like Treliving really screwed up all the goalies at the start of the year with the the carousel but that Ramo has really come on strong again since getting a stable position and that the Flames are doing just fine in net with Ramo.

That was at practice, Bennett seems to play better when he's upset so now at every practice whenever he scores, Hartley just calls it off.

Next game he'll score 5 goals for a hat-trick.

Default Karri Rambo

If he keeps playing like this Karri Rambo could stick. Here is what I picture:

Treliving: You did everything to make this hockey season happen. You've done enough damage. This season is over, Karri Rambo. Do you understand me? This season is over! Look at them out there! Look at them! If you won't end this now, they will boo you. Is that what you want? It's over Karri. It's over!

Karri Rambo: Nothing is over! Nothing! You just don't turn it off! It wasn't my game! You asked me, I didn't ask you! And I did what I had to do to win! But somebody wouldn't let us win! And I come back to the world and I see all those maggots at the airport, protesting me, spitting. Calling me a Siv and all kinds of vile crap! Who are they to protest me, huh? Who are they? Unless they've been me and been there and know what the hell they're yelling about!

* End scene
