I believe in the Jays.

I'm shocked... what's not to like about Flint? Y'know besides the ####show that is team management, a crime rate that ranks it on a list of "most dangerous cities in America", and of course the poisoned water supply.

To be fair the players all live outside of Flint.

I don't get why they don't just order him to sell right now. Obviously no one wants to go to Flint while he is still owner.
And as Craig Button points out this punishes the current players in Flint as well, who have done nothing to deserve this.

If they are fitting Nilsson for the noose but not hanging him with it yet, then I would bet the lawyers aren't completely certain they could win if Rolfy-boy took it to court. Probably something along the lines of terminating an employee. This is the written warning.

That's what happens when you buy a franchise. You think you're an owner, but really you're just an employee

No, you're still an owner. You're just not allowed to act like a mental patient out on a day pass is all.

I don't see it that way. If I own a business, I should be able to run it however the hell I want, as long as it's within the law. If I want to hire my teenage kid to be vice president and fire anyone who questions me, that's my choice as a business owner. All I have to do is pay out severance and expect a high turn over rate.

No business is really part of a larger collective like a hockey team is though. If you run your business like an idiot, you will go under and that is that. With a hockey league, the business IS the league, without the the overall health of the league itself, no team can thrive. It is imperative that all members of the league uphold the greater good. It's a symbiotic relationship to an extent. There is also the impact to the player's careers to be considered. It's not as black and white as you are making it out to be.

As a franchise you agree to follow the rules set forth by the main company. If the main company determines you are hurting the overall brand they have the right to step in.

It's not unlike owning any other kind of 'franchise'. Your conduct can't be detrimental to the larger organization.

It's the same for any franchise, not just hockey. Try owning a McDonalds and selling a Whopper.

Rolf Nilsen is free to start up his own hockey league if he doesn't like the rules being imposed upon him by the OHL.

Yup, hence my original statement. If you own a hockey team that is not a franchise, you would be able to manage it however you see fit. A franchise owner is more like an employee of a corporation. Similar to being on a board of directors.

You equated the situation to being a ground level employee as well as being a franchisee of a larger corporation. Was this your intention? If it was, I am confused. Those are two different things.
