It is great. It's a lock to be in my top 10 at the end of the year.
When I picked up my copy at Luke's they had a new compilation called "Taking It to Heart, Volume One". Proceeds go to the Heart And Stroke foundation. There are a bunch of local and Canadian bands on here. You can stream it here, but it's a limited edition so if you want a copy get one now.
I've the new Beach Slang album 'A Loud Bash Of Teenage Feelings' on constant repeat since last week. Current front runner for album of 2016 in my books.
Who thing can be found on youtube, but here's the opening track.
I love Beach Slang as well. I personally think they sound alot like Japandroids so fans of that band should check out Beach Slang as well (while we wait for Japandroids to release something new).
Coincidentally, Beach Slang covered Japandroids on the Polyvinyl Plays Polyvinyl anniversary compilation that will be released later this year.
Finally picked up Drive-by Truckers new one today, American Band, and it is really, really good. I don't think I like it quite as much as English Oceans, but it is another excellent effort from Cooley, Hood and Company.

Am I missing something? To me it's poor attempt at being something ground breaking and ended up missing the mark. I get it, you can distort your voice. The best comment I've read is that 22, A Million is more of an attempt at art than music, if that makes sense. Most pretentious thing I've heard in years. Also, screw those ridiculous song titles.

I just listened to the first song and cant decide if I love it or hate it. It kind of has a Peter Gabriel vibe but also has samples and other parts that are insufferable.

Haha, yes those are the most ridiculous/pretentious song titles ever.
I am really torn on 22, A million. Bon Iver, Bon Iver is one of my favourite albums ever and I was really looking forward to the follow up. I does have some great songs however I am having issues with the electronic influence and the use of auto-tune. Justin Vernon has one of the best voices in music, I have no idea why he needs to change it. Maybe he has been spending too much time with Kanye?
Note I also disliked Kid A when it first came out as that was a departure from previous work that introduced electronic elements. After a few years I eventually came to appreciate what a brilliant piece of music/art it was and now rank it as my favourite album ever.
Great recommendation for a band I haven't revisited in a while. That 'Sid and Nancy' track is awesome and an unexpected 'theory' I hadn't heard before. (The N. Reagan part, not the N. Spungen stuff)
this new album may change my mind on seeing them here in town next month.

I've had an Ages and Ages song as an earworm all day. Decided to inflict them on all of you as well. Picked a newer song to comply with the subject of this thread. Recommended for fans of bands like Polyphonic Spree, Guster and Bishop Allen.
The new Joyce Manor album Cody came out the other day and it might even be better than their previous breakout Never Hungover Again. I love how short and to the point their albums are with no filler. Sure it's only 25 minutes long but all the songs are great and I could keep listening on repeat over and over again.
Here is the first song, so catchy!

I saw them a few weeks ago here in Vancouver. It is such a pleasure to see an old band do what they do best, and still love it.
American Band is excellent. A bit more protest-songy but tinged with the Truckers' unusual cultural take. Ever South is one that should go down in history.
