I booked with them last year, but got cancelled. Not their fault though, blame Mother Nature!

The Castle one is awesome and is world renowned. I went on it 2 seasons ago and I haven't had a ski experience like that ever. I think they even fed us lunch back then. Highly recommend doing it.

Yeah was a bag lunch, snacks, and a beer at the end.

Going to Lake Louise. First time snowboarding in years tomorrow. Good luck body, may your descent be upright, please

Anybody have any leads on discounted passes to Sunshine? I haven't gone into Costco but online they don't have any.

Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but it's going to be pretty cold. Make sure you dress right because it's going to be really cold going up the chair lifts.

I don't think Costco has ever had them online since they're regional.

Should have them in store.

AMA sells discounted tickets as well.

If you plan on going more then 2-3 times, a ski card will pay for itself after a couple uses. Might be a good option.

I will probably just be going once. Took my sister in law for lessons at COP and now she wants to try mountain skiing. I have a season pass for Nakiska but I think the snow at Sunshine is far better for a beginner skier; plus I know each of the green runs at Sunshine like the back of my hand. Given those two factors, probably the only place I would dare attempt to ski backwards.

If you are lucky there will be a thermal inversion. We were there over the holidays and it was -24 at the bottom and -4 at the top. We stayed at the top :-)

Anyone been to Fernie the past couple days? Might head out this weekend, but if it's beat down, I'll pass and stay local.

No longer on sale, however.

I've been told the bars in town are taking CAD for USD 1$ to 1$.

I'm looking to take an avalanche course if possible this winter, but I'm only aware of Yamnuska and U of C outdoor centre. If you have any recommendations of these or any other course you've taken, I'd appreciate it.

Yam is good I know a number of people that took it there.

I did U of C and my course was great, but I've heard it can be hit or miss depending on who's teaching it.

Hah! I skied backwards all morning over holidays helping out my young daughter at Fernie. Between that and having to sidestep up beside the magic carpet my legs were whipped.

Splitboard HQ does them as well. Great group of guys, locally owned. They do weekend guided trips as well if your looking to get out with a guide and explore a little more.

Costco is your best bet. Cost is $215 for 3 tickets, even if you just need 1 or 2 tickets I've always been able to sell tickets to people waiting inline to buy some if I have an extra.
