I don't know if she's smarter than Brittney Haynes. Brittney was less delusional about what she was doing and was just as aware about what was going on.

Brittney was not dumb, no argument there. But as SP says she wasn't a manipulator. Vanessa is and a damn good one. I'm not a fan of her but you have to admire her gameplay. But I do wish she would lay off the crying.

No but she was great at reading people and knowing when she was being lied to. Vanessa is manipulating but she's doing it via the Evil Dick method of intimidation rather than masterminding from afar like Will, Dan, and Derrick. IMO she's been pretty lucky in that this year's cast is extremely passive as in other years her act would have had her out the door a while back.

...
You're talking about the same Brittney who saw four guys hanging out all the time and never once suspected that they were in a day 1 alliance and in fact commented about how it was strange that there was no dominant alliance right before she was informed that actually there was one and by the way it's your time to go?
Brittney was entertaining and was gold in the DR... but she was not a particularily astute player.

With regards to this season... I think Vanessa has played the best game but I just can't root for her to win (she doesn't own her game in the DR and constantly plays the victim I find both really really annoying). If she ends up winning I'd put her in the 2nd tier of winners (1st tier being Dan, Will, and Derrick).

Does everyone here know she's won millions playing poker?

4+ Million in tournament winnings alone (add in however much she's won in cash games + online games + endorsement deals with poker sites and GoDaddy)... even if she was staked on her tournament wins Lady Maverick is loaded.

Just caught up on the episodes. Austin gets worse and worse.
Vanessa's little whisper to Julia was a great play, but even more impressive was how she deflected the heat off herself and put a wedge between the Twins and Austin. Her crying might be annoying, but the fact that she truly believes her own lies and that she is a good person is what makes her so effective.
However, I think she might have made her first real mistake in this game by keeping Liz over Julia. There is no way Liz or Austin is going to honor that 3-part deal. People also talk, and if John or Steve find out about this deal she is screwed.
I still think she is one of the smartest females to ever play, even if she comes up short. Finished college in 2 and a half years, was on the Dean's list, and went to Law school. She has won millions in poker and endorsements, but I don't think she has cashed any money in years. Likely has enough to live comfortably but she isn't exactly swimming in it.
I also disagree that this year's group of players is weak, nearly everybody has been playing the game hard and it hasn't been an easy road for Vanessa. If she pulls off the win it would be a tough call between her and Derrick as to who the better winner is, because I think Derrick was playing against a group of idiots. But in terms of entertainment Vanessa is easily better - last season was so bad and Derrick was a part of that.

Vanessa's offer to Liz/Austin was amazingly one sided. I hope they realize just how screwed they'd be if they honoured that deal. It sounds like they figured it out, Liz was skeptical and Austin seemed to just play along and nod in agreement. I'm not a fan of all the crying but Vanessa is playing a very strong game and as mentioned above the beauty of it is she has convinced herself she is playing an honest game. I hope she doesn't win though as it sounds like she doesn't need the money at all.
Steve is starting to play more aggressive and it's about time. My guess is Steve and John figure out how dangerous Vanessa is and target her.

It really feels like Vanessa's game to lose which is unfortunate. Arguably no floaters in the final group and should be a blood bath but I feel it'll be a little too predictable.

i really hate how vanessa corners people and interrogates them one after the other to try to catch someone in a lie so that she can justify putting them up on the block.
it's such a bully tactic, especially with such a weak group of houseguests. johnny mac caught onto her tactics, but he sat back on it for way too long.

What?
You realize you are talking about a group of people that didn't get out a set of twins + 1?
Vanessa will likely get taken out next week when any other person wins the HOH.

Heck with the twins as it's not like they have been running the house. All I hear from the players in the jury house is how Vanessa having a hand in their eviction yet they are the same people that chose to evict Shelly (less Clay) instead when they were both up on the block. I am not clear on why everyone was so scared of Shelly by herself when they had already seen Vanessa's act of bullying/manipulating. Becky had the right plan that week and the people that failed to execute it are in the jury house. That's what happens when you are stupid.
As for Vanessa she's in a bit of a spot here as she can't compete for the HOH that decides final 3 so she's likely going up next week regardless of who wins HOH and she's probably the player nobody will want to bring to the final 3 if you really plan on winning the big prize. She will need to win the veto next week.

Just a reminder, tonight is the Veto and Eviction show. Tomorrow will be new HOH. There is no show on Thursday because of Football.

Steve folding is irrelevant. Whoever wins veto decides who goes home. Who is nominated is irrelevant.

I mean that this group hasn't been as weak as previous ones in that nearly everybody is playing to win, that doesn't mean they're playing well.
And as Erick Estrada said its not like Austwins have been running the game, there's only one of them left.
As for the eviction I was pretty shocked Vanessa actually cut Austin. After what Austin said about jury votes a Vanessa/Steve final two might be similar to a Dan/Ian final two where the mastermind loses to the nerd.
I am going to guess Vanessa goes tonight if she doesn't win veto, Liz will cut her to avenge Austin and John will do what Steve wants, which is to cut her. I hope this isn't the case though, I want to see if she can pull it off at F2.

Steve is too smart to bring Vanessa to the final two and Liz may want to stick it to her for taking out Austin so I think it's very important she wins the final HOH. If she does IMO she's going to be the winner. If it's between Liz and Steve things become a little muddy.

Sad Johnny Mac is gone, but he had a good run.
With that being said, go Vanessa! Definitely has to win this game now.
