Utterly disappointed with another playoff failure, change is in the offing within their core roster if there’s a deal that makes sense. Word is the Blues would like to move apples for apples in any deal, which is a very difficult thing to do in the cap system, particularly in a summer when so many teams are looking to shed salary, not add any.
But if there’s a deal out there that makes sense, word from rival executives is that the Blues are more open-minded than ever to move one of their long-standing core guys, whether that’s David Backes, T.J. Oshie, Patrik Berglund or other veterans.
Really curious as to which player NYR would want from the Oilers; only one I can think off is Yakupov; I can't see the Rangers wanting anyone with a big contract, since they are close to the cap
It would be a fair swap as you have to give up something to get something and if you put aside the fact the Yakupov was a first overall pick and just look at both players straight up it's a pretty even deal.

#sens look to fill hole for Anderson or Lehner. Want a top six forward in return. Received multiple calls on both goalies #NHL
Berglund 0.35 points per game last season / 14:34 ice time
Raymond 0.40 points per game last season / 14:48 ice time
Both had 12 goals last season, Raymond in 20 less games.
Flames get a bigger body.
Blues get to shuffle their core a bit.
Both players get a fresh start on playoff teams.
Sure it looks even if you're only considering offensive stats, but Berglund's defensive game is miles ahead of Raymond's. Couple that with the fact that Berglund is a center man and I think the Flames need to add.

Retain half salary + toss in a mid prospect/pick?
I like the idea. I wonder if he could tutor Colborne?

Can't really argue with any of this, to be honest. I don't think the + would have to be too extreme though. Berglund's role and performance seems to be reducing with each passing season, and that includes the fact that he doesn't play center all that much anymore.

Are we on to these types of reports already, "Such and such a team want to make a change to the players on said team but only if it make sense. They could possibly move some players but with the cap the way it is they may not be able to, it depends on what the other team wants to send back in return"
Going off of that list if we do want to move up 11 is probably the most likely option, and you would think it costs us pick 52.
You could look at 9-11 as teams that all would be worth having discussions with:
Florida at 11 does make the most sense - they lack a 2nd round pick, and if a defenceman is sitting at 11 as BPA, they may have a few forwards they like, making it worth dropping 4 spots to get another pick. However, they have a lot of young pieces and may want quality over quantity
San Jose may also be worth tempting at 9 - it would cost more, but they may want to add more young pieces to retool their team. #15 + #53 + #76 or 83 perhaps? That would give the flames picks at #9, #45, #52, #76 or 83 and San Jose picks at #15, #39 and #83 or 76 (they lack a 3rd round pick)
The Avs have been rumoured to be putting their pick in play too at #10, but they are a bit harder to get a read on.
Dallas at #12 only if the right player lands there, as it is not much of a jump and may not warrant the cost. LA likely have similar needs and would not trade, and swapping 1 spot is illogical (from Boston's perspective)
