Hartley won't tip his hand:

Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
Looks like a no-lines morning skate for #Flames. Drills are two-on-one pairings. #Bennettwatch

I went to high school in the late 90s, they never made it the whole time I was there!

Yeah I would prefer Ferland over Colborne on the PP. Ferland is tough enough to stand in front of the net.

So my keys to the game.

- speed kills, the Canucks can't keep up, the flames have to keep their feet moving and fast
- The Canucks are probably going to trap the neutral zone to slow down the Flames and deny entry. The Flames are going to have to be hard on the forecheck and do cross ice dump ins. The back pass from the winger to a rushing blueliner that the Flames love to use can also break the trap.
- Break the cycle. I don't mind if the Canucks cycle outside all day long and shoot from bad angles, but you can't get enamoured with letting them get their cycle going
- Blueline as part of the offense. If the Canucks want to take the Flames first line out of play then it leaves lots of room for the Blueline to generate offense.
- Turn the Canucks defense, their defense isn't exactly fast, they're good positionally thought, but if you force them into the turning battle you should win that war.
- Protect the smaller guys. We know the Canucks have a lot of cheap shot artists like Bieksa and Burrows and others, and their game plan is to be physical against the smaller skilled Flames. you have to set a precedence. If someone runs Gaudreau then you put Ferland on the ice and tell him to plant a Sedin. You give Bollig the job of grabbing someone and pounding him if that player goes after a Hudler or Bennett.
- Get in front of Lack, he's very good when he sees the puck, but he's not experienced playoff wise. Get in front of him and get him off of his game.

I am currently sitting at my gate at YYC waiting for my flight to Van for game 1. Got my Gaudreau jersey on. Guy across from me has a Monahan jersey on. Another two jerseys are down the way. Two guys in Canucks jerseys. This city is jacked. Here we go!

#1 priority over the summer better be fixing this defense. That does not look like a playoff worthy defense.
