Natasha Henstridge was my sister's best friend before she went to modelling and the movies.
Met a ton of hockey players, Gretzky, Messier, Richard, Beliveau, Lafleur, Dryden.... all were terrific, only real jerks in the bunch were Damphousse, Daigneault and Craig MacTavish.

We are walking away, and my friend figures it out. He just asked Bill Ranford to man the camera. Whoops.

This reminds me. Bill Ranford is a dick!
Back in the day we would get ice in Sylvan over the summer. Lots of pros would come out. Ranford came out once and played forward. He was hacking and slashing guys like crazy. He was acting like a real ass.
Another time Brent Sutter was out and it was "next goal wins" time. I stole the puck from him at the blue line and went in and scored. We chatted in the shower after.
Once, when we lived in TO we were at a pub. The table had a long bench on one side that two groups shared. Matthew Perry was in the other group. We left him alone but then a commercial came on for a movie he was in. He got all excited and pointed at the tv. After he got all embarrassed when he saw all of us watching him watching himself on TV. It was funny. Shook his hand as he left.

Saw Conroy the day after the Flames were eliminated from the playoffs one year. He was booking it from HMV at North Hill mall. We passed in opposite directions. Our eyes met. I gave him a "Wassup" nod as we passed. He returned the nod with a smile. It was but a moment but something I shall cherish forever.
Recently ran into Noodles at a bar. He was with a big group and I went in for a bro hug asked him what was up and then moved on. He was really cool about it and pretended he knew me. Or at least hid well the fact that I was a total random at the bar invading his space. Either way.

I think Judd Nelson wanted to attack me when I recited his lines in Breakfast Club, at a Vancouver pub.

Was two tables down from Craig Conroy and his family at Dairy Lane a couple of years ago. Decided not to bother him since I didn't have anything to autograph. Realized later after we had all left that I still had some old Flames ticket stubs in my coat.

Saw Barbara Bush at Sugar Loaf mountain in Rio de Janeiro back in 2002. Surrounded by secret service people, it was crazy, literally 20 guys in Hawaiin shirts sun glasses and ear pieces. Just couldn't picture Barbara Bush in a Brazilian bikini.
Also was behind Gustavo Kuertin waiting to get into a bar in Florianapolis. I think he played in a Davis Cup event in Calgary later that year where Daniel Nestor beat him at singles to lead Canada to an upset win.

I know the Lieutenant Governor well enough to say hi.
My friend works in the TV/movie industry so I've met a few minor celebs through him. Mostly people from Heartland. The main girl from the show had an entourage when I met her.

In my younger days partied with Darren McCarty on several occasions, my buddy was a longtime boyfriend of Jolene Van Vugt while she was still full time in Canada pre Nitro Circus days. Also drank with Andy Bell pre Nitro Circus. Met Robyn Regehr at Lethbridge Arenacross in 2003 . I also met him again when he was picking up his new turboed sled from an okotoks motorcycle dealer. An olympic medal winning curler is a long time customer of mine. When I was a kid I lived a few blocks from Dana Murzyn and we would see him around from time to time.
Stu Laird came to my elementary school as a kid with the Grey Cup and autographed some award I received that day. I grew up riding with somebody who has become one of the largest supercross stars ever to come out of Canada. Jeff Glass was in my TA in high school. I was in the bar in Invermere when Mike Vernon got man slapped by a local yokel. Met Avril Lavigne when she posered around on some bikes with a local dealer. Hung out with "The Swollen Members" for a night. One of my best friends brothers was/is part of the new degrassi cast.

After being at the gold medal game in Vancouver we were out partying at a bar after when Toews, Seabrook, and Perry walked in. Ended up buying Perry a beer at the bar and shaking his hand...he was just hammered. Toews was surrounded by babes so left him alone and Seabrook was creeping...
I ended up building a trophy box for my tickets, newspaper, and gold medal game used puck I bought. What I wouldn't do for some autographs on those ticket stubs!!
Plane ride home was with the gold medal wining short track men and womens teams. Got to hold a gold medal and talk to them. Super cool athletes and were so still amped up. They got a "standing" ovation when we landed in Calgary.
Told Mrs. FLAMESRULE that that week was better than our wedding.

I was in a Sunridge mall commercial when I was in the third grade
I was a contestant on The Price is Right in 2004 in my vintage Flames Jersey. Met Bob Barker, had a chance to win a car, but lost.
Met Pat Quinn on a shuttle bus at the Telus skins game in Banff about 10 years ago. Nice guy.
Worked for 7 years in radio so met lots of musicians, interviewed lots of them on the phone, got to introduce and meet the artists for a few mid level star quality concerts
Worked for the Flames during 2006-2007, among other jobs I was the guy who pulled/wrapped up the cord for the camera on the ice during the anthem. Standing on the ice with all the players just before a playoff game was the coolest thing I've ever experienced.

Got drunk with Kevin Martins team in Victoria after the Olympics.
Worked security when The Rolling Stones were at the Aurora in Banff.
Also in that tenure, met Fernando Pisani (Oiler, blegh.), Felix Potvin, nice guy.
Majority of the L.A Kings in 07-08. Rob Blake, Mike Cammalleri, Anze Kopitar etc etc.
Another night,Todd Bertuzzi, Iggy, Conroy and a couple others, I was drunk foggy memory.
Pantera, drank with them. That was fun.
No big deal for an Albertan but The Smalls.
Got a picture with Jerry Only form the Misfits.
When I was a kid in Sakatoon, the Blades came to my neighborhood and did a big shinny thing with us. Including Rhett Warrener, Wade Belak, Clark Wilm. Yikes, thats a long time ago now.
Also in Banff since the Banff film and tv festival was there, got to rub elbows with Kelsey Grammar, Toby Macguire, Macauley Kulkin, Mila Kunis.
Filming of The Edge in Canmore allowed me to meet Alec Baldwin and Elle Macpherson.
Wanted to meet Sir Anthony Hopkins but never crossed paths.
Mystery Alaska, I was in that along with 200 other locals as fans. Met Burt Reynolds by default as my step father looked like him, they got a picture together.
Never met Russell Crowe either, missed his eviction from The Drake by a few hours.

My very first crush (in second grade) ended up going on to become a legit model. This girl: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heather_Marks
One time I went to one of those Flames prospect camps and Darryl Sutter sat down to watch right beside me. I was 15 and got nervous so I didn't say anything, haha.

Not a personal brush with fame, but one of my girlfriend's best friends sister is married to Zac Galafanakis.
Growing up, my siblings and I had a fun connection to the Hart family through friends of ours. My closest brushes with fame seem to revolve around professional wrestling to some extent.
