It appears as though he's there to watch his favorite team with his family.
Hopefully with no one on internet message boards calling him to attention

Sure you mean it that way. Why bother posting it this way of you didn't.
I don't buy into all this fanboy hype around what Byron brings to the game. Because I feel like there re other players that bring what he brings with more polish. But you can carry on like those who don't get the Byron love don't know a damned thing about hockey.
Curious (and not an indictment on your opinion), but who else on the Flames creates chances and gains positioning with pure speed, in the role that Byron is cast, better than Paul Byron?

Not a bad period. But it was all Minnesota after the Jooris goal, even when we had the PP. Flames need to find a way to ramp up the intensity. Someone needs to show them the current standings during the intermission just to remind them.

Drew Shore. Micheal Ferland (maybe in a year). Max Reinhart before he fell off of the map was doing the same thing. Mainly Drew Shore though.

Yes, because they are probably completely unaware of them.

Yeah, I kind of realized it would come off that way, but I honestly consider myself a pretty stupid hockey fan. I continually find myself reading posts about play/goal/shift breakdowns from smarter fans and going "holy ****, all I saw was a dude shoot from the point and it went in."
So it's not coming from a place of "I'm such a smart fan and those that disagree are stupid", it's more so that I just see Byron as a huge sparkplug that does all the little things right and changes the tempo of shifts due to his tenacity.
I also believe a lot of his detractors are biased due to him missing on break aways so often, breakaways that most guys in his position and salary range get one or two of in their whole careers.

Well, Drew Shore is not comparable with speed...so that's actually a null comparison. Even so, he's proven to be, at best, equal to Byron in capitalizing on opportunities.
I would go so far as to say he's half as effective as Byron in generating opportunities. Not to say I don't like what Shore brings to the table, but they aren't comparable players.
Ferland, same thing.
Reinhart struggled in his call up, and I'm actually surprised you would bring him up in the argument. Not the guy I would have in the lineup over Byron on any level this season.
