10-12 points over the last 10 games is very doable. Let's go boys!

Last I heard, they were nursing minor nagging injuries. I expect to see both back soon.

Couple of thoughts there. Clearly, any D-man in the league will look worse when you substitute Giordano for Engelland, just going to happen. It's also not wrong though to call out that it is clear, that Brodie's spot on the development curve is likely not as far along as many would have expected now having seen him without Gio. Gio is making Brodie look better at this point than I thought he was.
Engelland has stepped up to his new role better than I would have thought, while Brodie is not stepping up as much as I would have hopped. So it's not all the Engelland factor. Case and point, Engelland had nothing to do with Brodie getting spun around in circles last week on Colarado's third goal, and Engelland wasn't even on the ice with Brodie when he coughed up the puck unforced for the 2nd St.Louis goal earlier this week, Russell was.
The fan base just has their guys. People look to excuse away Brodie's short comings because they have him listed as a key piece of this club moving forward, same with Russell. Makes them feel better about the long term out look if they are able to say things didn't go well because of Engelland or Smid, or even Wideman because they don't have those players slotted in long term for the team.

He was, because he wasn't given the opportunity to be better. The Flames out played the jackets, giving Bobverosky the ability to be the better goalie. If the Flames players hadn't completely gifted Columbus the two goals they scored, you could make your point, but seen as they left Ramo out to dry completely, the individual errors on this goals are what needs to called out, not Ramo's lower save % on the night. It's about context, and why people need to watch the games rather than just look at the stat sheets (not saying you didn't watch). Goaltending might have been a positive story for CBJ yesterday, but it was not a negative one for Calgary, and it wasn't given the opportunity to be a positive on either.
Besides, going into the game, you'd likely be willing to suggest the one area the Flames might not have Columbus beat is between the pipes, but should win everywhere else. They did that, with the exception of our PP and goal scorers didn't finish the way they should have and we delivered a disaster choke job on an individual play by Russell. That's the game story, not that Ramo didn't out play Bobverosky with limited opportunity to do so. Focusing on that is covering your eyes in regards to what the real problems were yesterday.

Scoring Winger

Ahh...here is the CP we know and love. Quick to find a goat for the game. I would like to point out that while Russell made a mistake he also made some amazing defensive plays that took away excellent scoring opportunities for the Blue Jackets. Scoring opportunities that may have put the game out of reach.
So if you want to dump on someone...dump on the whole team because last time I checked this is a team sport played by humans...who make mistakes.

I would tend to agree with this. I am looking at the sched thinking I wish they played right now!!! I want the playoffs bad. This team of kids, vets and retreads is captivating.

Absolutely, not like the Flames aren't better off with Russell, of course they are. But at the end of the day, this is sport. It's about team performance, and also individual moments of greatness and failure. Had Russell taken the puck from end to end on a rush, undressed the whole team and scored the game winning goal, mo one would have issue with people coming in here and sticking the hero crown on his head for a great individual effort that one the game. Or if he'd dove head first to block a shot in OT and saved the game, people would be in here again with the hero talk for an individual effort.
Russell made a terrible individual play yesterday, that did in fact cost us the game. Just like the individual examples above, if you substitute out Russell's mistake in this case, we have the two points not just one. Think it's pretty fair to talk about those negative moments too, especially if you have a balanced perspective, and especially if you are willing to sign praises of players when deserved also, and CP has not had a shortage of love for Russell all season long.

This is exactly right, imagine we went just 3-5 during that stretch, we would likely be up on Vancouver right now with a cushion.
This game was tough to swallow but we are still up and can keep LA at bay. I said it in another thread, nobody wants LA in the playoffs, every team will play hard against them to keep them out.
If the flames play like they did yesterday against most teams, we will win. Bobrovski was on fire, elite goaltending won them that game.
