Yeah they need Pinder with Boomer and Warrener who are both the same character essentially. Bosom buddies who love ribs and letting rip and hate stats and facts lol

Could not agree more. I usually don't one way or the other but he actually annoys me with his cliche answers to everything, most boring announcer with no originality.

TSN Radio will not be coming to Calgary as long as the Flames are locked up by Rogers. There would be no point.

Is that why Pinder wasn't on today? They said on the show they didn't want Pinder to come in because they were doing the show at a sex shop and they thought he'd be awkward. Sounded like a weird explanation at the time...

Pinder's duties in his role on the Fan is also provide 660News with their sports report at 15/45 - which you can't do on location. So if he was on 660 today that would explain it.
If Pinder is the guy heading to Toronto - good on him - and Prime Time Peter Klein (aka New Pinder) could step right in.
The guy has really good knowledge across NHL/NFL/MLB - and works hard. You can here more of his work on the weekend when he does some shows.

Not their radio broadcasting rights. Canucks games are carried by TSN and the Oilers by Corus station 630 CHED.
Neither city has a Rogers affiliated sports radio station.

TSN Radio broadcasts the Canucks games.
Edmonton is the only market with a TSN Radio affiliate that is not the radio broadcaster of its NHL team. Oilers games currently air on CHED, which is owned by Corus and is not a full-time sports station (it's Edmonton's equivalent of CHQR in Calgary). I'd say it's a safe bet that TSN will be going hard after the rights whenever they become available.
Calgary and Toronto are the only markets with Sportsnet Radio stations and Calgary is the only NHL market without a TSN Radio station.
Toronto is the only market in Canada that's likely big enough to support two all-sports radio stations. It helps that they share the broadcast rights to all MLSE-owned teams.
The Fan's ratings in Calgary are pretty bad, and that's with them owning the Flames' rights. I can't see Bell trying to launch a second all-sports station in Calgary to try to steal away listeners from one of the least listened-to stations in the city without the rights to the Flames.

Bingo. I think this gets lost on a lot of people but Richards knew much more about sports in general than really anyone else on the 960 network. I know some people that only care about hockey don't care but under Richards there was a lot more NFL, boxing, golf, tennis and other sports talk when Richards was doing the show and it was less Flames-sentric.
That's why a guy like me has an appreciation for the Jim Rome's and Mike Richard's of the airwaves as just because we are in Canada doesn't mean we have to pretend that hockey is the only sport that exists.

I have no doubt that any time the rights for any CFL or NHL become up for grabs in any Canadian city that TSN will be walking in with briefcases of money and it's hard to imagine Rogers after sinking all that money into the NHL deal that they will be able to outbid TSN.

It was actually what colour should he get for a big "D"! as noted...it writes itself.
Good luck to Pinder if true; now he can make a local call to that stats guy that he got reminded repeatedly about bringing on.
All kidding aside, Pinder is a good foil and i loved when they were bugging him for creeping on the ski chicks.
Good luck in TO if true Pinder!

It is obviously well premature since Fan 960's rights don't expire until the end of 2019-20, but Bell does have an AM station drawing flies for listeners - Funny 1060. So if the rights had been coming up now and they wanted to back a dump truck full of money at the Flames doorstep to start a radio street fight, they would have very little to lose. Especially because Fan 960 without the Flames is dead within months.

Wouldn't surprise me if Pinder was hoping to get to TO at some point - I've noticed that whenever the Leafs come up he chimes in a lot. He clearly follows them closely and also seems to know a lot about the Jays and Raptors. So good on him and good luck, I like him.
I'll throw out another "I hate Rome" here because I've seen a few posts talking about how great Rome is. Not only do I not give a #### about basketball I never know who he's interviewing, he seems arrogant and his actual delivery really irks me. He must have gotten worse over the years because to get so big he must have been good at some point. He's horrible.

As much as Boomer and to some extent the fans give Ryan a hard time he is pretty knowledgeable in most sports, he's a bit of a dork (not as bad as Stienberg) but a sports geek just the same, but he does possess speach talent whereas he doesn't seem to ever screw up his news lines.
I personally think he'll have a long career in radio or maybe even TV.
