I don't want to get anyone in trouble as my source, but will say I know for sure that a Harvey retired last season.
He had been doing it 11 years IIRC, and there was 1 Harvey before him.
From what I was told, it's kind of like sith lords; 1 master and 1 apprentice.

Now I can't help thinking of him as Darth Harvey. Is that wrong?

It's in a TSN article on the front page, can't link it as I am on my phone.

My bad: Johnny Gaudreau is not part of the main NHL all-star game after all. Was a fluid situation but they've decided to play one F short.

Why play one forward short if he's already there? Weird.

hahaha... I don't know why, but I find that hilarious.
How can naming someone to an all star game be a "fluid situation"? Super funny. Also why would you play one guy short when you could just let the kid play while he's there? So weird.

That is so stupid.
Even stupider is that every major media outlet picked this up, even though it was only reported on by one guy.
It was on CBC, Sportsnet, TSN, NHL on NBC etc.
You probably had poor Gaudreau sitting there getting texts from everyone saying congrats, and waiting for the call, only to now being left out even though there is an open spot.
Ridiculous.

trying to protect the integrity of the word "all-star" when Girgensons is already in the starting lineup.

Welp, I guess that just means I won't be watching the game on Sunday. What a dumb decision.

Guess they didn't want anyone in Calgary to watch. I just finished switching some plans around so I could watch, now I have to change them back. I'm not watching a crappy all star game now.
