I am not saying they're the same type of player, but will have a similar career.

Boy would that be a disappointment.

I disagree. I think that he is finding himself. Sven always seemed to have a good attitude, and seemed to be grounded. I have a feeling that a lot of the percieved sulking issues in the past year or so have been a bump in the road for what I think is a good kid. I hope that he will find his joy in the game again, and will strive forward.
This kid has great vision on the ice and has made numerous world class passes during his time up with the big team. Imo he will be a solid if not impact player in the NHL and I hope that we have the patience to reap the benifits of it ourselves.

Jamie Lundmark wasn't an NHL player. Sven can play in this league, and has shown spurts where he can be a dominant player in this league. AHL journeymen don't generally do that.

I am one that thinks Baertschi's career won't ever really get started, but I hope I'm wrong. Let's hope he can convert what he's doing in the AHL to the NHL and I'll gladly eat all kinda crow.

I like Ferland because he doesn't have to be a scorer. He could be a total asset as a 15 goal physical player on the third or fourth line.
Sven is one dimensional. He better be scoring more than 15 goals. I'm hopeful he will.

Sure...but Ferland has shown nothing at the NHL to say he can put up points.
Baertschi has.

Sven needs a solid kick at the can, with some coaching, support, extra special attention and then we all need to move on. It needs to be a committed effort by both parties. I don't think he has had that.

Totally disagree with that. Ferland had numerous great shifts and created some good chances for his line, while using his size and strength to his advantage - the element that Flames have ultimately lacked.
Just because he got 1 point in 10 games, it doesn't mean he can't produce at the NHL level. I watched him a lot and it could have been 0.5 PPG if his line was a bit luckier.
btw. I couldn't find the video with a great shift by Ferland (posted by AC in one those road trip PGT threads), but it was one of the best plays I've seen in a long time.

Not that I think that Baertschi is the next Lundmark but to say that Baertschi is an NHL player counter to all evidence that he currently is not is well...

Baertschi's biggest problem is his head and I'm not sure if that's something that will change. He's a player that feeds on confidence and to be confident, he needs to score and contribute on the scoresheet. When he isn't doing that, he gets down on himself which impacts his confidence, removing the swagger he needs to succeed.

I think both Ferland and Baertschi are going to contribute to the success of this team.

Lundmark played 295 NHL games in his career, according to hockeydb

Baertschi is just inconsistent.
If he keeps up what he's been doing in Adirondack, I don't see why he couldn't be on this team next year.

When exactly has he shown this? He hasn't even shown that he can be dominant in the AHL yet.

haven't we beaten this to death yet? He still has time and still has some developing to do in the AHL before he is ready for the NHL on a regular basis. I want to see him leading that team in Addy, until that happens, I don't think he is ready for the NHL.
Isn't he following Backlund's route to the NHL? Kind of developing slower but give him what he needs to develop properly so he can be a 200ft player. I'd be happy with that.
