Flames 4 - Senators 2 - We Win!
Great game. Ottawa played well, yet we owe a lot to Anderson - though our speed made him look extra stupid.
I am not sure how you guys perceived the CBC crew, but I found it odd for the flames to be the subject of such adoration—and versus another Canadian team to boot. I'll take it. This is a fun team to watch, ... and potentially believe in

It seriously amazes me what smart hockey players we have in our system and how well they mesh into Hartleys system. It's refreshing to see simple hockey plays turn into so many goals. Monahan in particular looks so confident

The difference we are seeing is in the systems. Hartley mentioned they play as a 5 man unit, 5 forwards or 5 defense working together. The difference is noticeable, as soon as they lose possession you can see the entire team turn around and back check.

Since 'Artley night in Van, the Flames are:
30-20-3 63Pts +19 .594 (easily a playoff team)
By comparison, over the same period, the Hawks are:
24-20-5 53Pts +14 .541

He got plenty of praise for it. Hrudey mentioned it several times.

Good game for sure, Flames look very confident in the offensive zone, which was always going to be the huge question mark this season. Granlund, Jooris (who looked fantastic in the only preseason game I saw), just know where to be, and the Flames are very good and keeping control and have the skill and confidence to be making those cross ice passes which opens up so much more.
If Colborne and Backlund were ready tomorrow, I wouldn't put them back in.
That said, there were a couple stretches in the 3rd where Ottawa was all over the Flames, about halfway through the period for a solid 3 minutes. Bobby Ryan was on fire after his goal. First Ramo's save, and then the crossbar, and a whole bunch of scrambles where the Flames couldn't clear it....that plus the two gifts from Anderson and you've got the scoreline.
ANA will be a great measuring stick Tuesday.

I think you mean Craig Simpson.
But yes, he mentioned it was a "perfect pass".
Jim Hughson seemed a little lost, like on the Granlund goal. You can tell he didn't see the pass by Bouma go through at all.

They need to find a way to have Granlund wear the third jersey every game, even if no one else is wearing it. He has five career points at the Saddledome, one wearing the retro uniform and the other 4 wearing the thirds.
The Flames also have 5 of a possible 6 points wearing the thirds this year. I don't think Burke will need to make any calls to the league the change their jerseys this season.

I thought the Flames playoff hopes were done with Giordano and Russell apparently hurt. Thankfully that wasn't the case, because the Flames have no chance without Giordano.
I assume Ferland will take over for David Jones if he's out long term.
Reinhart hasn't been bad but I assume he will be the first sent back once someone comes back from injury. Next would be Setoguchi. Sven has definitely improved but he will be hard pressed to stay up when Raymond comes back.

That pass from Sven was unreal. I can't believe how quickly it left his stick!
So when does Josh and Markus start looking for permanent housing? Calgary already has a tight rental market haha

I can't believe the Flames have 11 wins before game 20. I thought all their injuries at center would hurt them (even voted that way in the poll). WTF..I knew there was talent coming up, but not this fast. WOW is all I have to say.

Ya I noticed that, he flat out said "How did that go in?" and I had to yell at the TV "With a sweet backhand by Granlund you dummy". That said though Hughson seems to be on the Flames bandwagon this year, I've never heard so much praise out of him for this team before

That was fun. I know I'm a little tipsy but that was fun. The Sven pass for the goal was ridiculous, amazing. Johnny with a couple of incredible passes. Some terrible ones as well. But man that kid is crazy talented. Jooris. Just Jooris. No way he goes back down. Kids got game. Bouma! Granlund to, Great game. Hard to send him down. Does a lot of the little things really well out there.
The speed. Great team speed. So much fun right now. Loving this team!

Also need to add that Hrudey is awesome, so glad he calls our games. So calm and insightful. Also thought the panel tonight was pretty good, even Cox who I hate. It was a fun night.
