That's the kind of approach I'd expect from a totalitarian regime, not from a liberal democracy. I hope that as citizens we receive the full truth once a thorough investigation has been completed (except when releasing details would jeopardize national security).

Crazy. That Malala's honorary citizen ceremony was supposed to be today.

Prayers for all my fellow law enforcement members today dealing with this. I really hate some peoples ignorant comments tied to media articles about this or FB. People who are calling for all Muslims to leave Canada or blaming them for this is just plain ignorance. I guarantee there are Muslim soldiers and officers helping us with this situation right now. It really pisses me off.

If there really are multiple shooters and - as I understand it from the overlapping reports in this thread - only 1 soldier casualty so far, with government being the other apparent target, this looks a bit more organized than what I'd have expected from an ISIS inspired group. I thought their thing was random attacks in foreign countries.

This could still be a number of different things, none of them good.

Still, if we learned anything from 9/11, it's that the information that comes out as things transpire is often inaccurate.

I doubt that the press would go along with it. And the public would skin the government for that kind of lie.

CBC now re-confirming a shooting at Rideau Centre after a couple thus far reliable Twitter sources denied the initial reports. Unknown how many shots fired there, injuries, etc.

+1

And, of course, we don't even know the ethnicity and motives of the shooter(s) yet. Blaming this attack on Islamic extremism is far too premature right now.

Too soon for that kind of assumption.

Are all of these events related? We don't know. Do these gunners all know each other? We don't know.

I don't know if this attack sounds all that organized.

Probably only one shooter responsible for all three incidents. Really hope our solider survives and the only casualty ends up being the dead gunman.

One gunman was killed inside Parliament, Kevin Newman on the CTV news live feed mentioned the Sergeant-at-arms of Parliament got him.

Police confirm suspect killed in Parliament, and now have the rest of downtown still on lockdown, with someone else now injured at Rideau Centre?

Not likely.

For the love of all that is holy, do NOT read foxnews comments on this story.

@acarvin: Based on the current timeline, shooting at Rideau Centre happened AFTER gunmen taken down in Centre Block. If true, confirms 2nd gunman.

Based on the witness reports, the guy who shot the soldier is the one who was shot in the 30-50 hail of bullets inside. Construction witness reported a second guy posssibly with the first guy wearing a similar scarf, he could be the Rideau shooter. *Speculating

Mansbridge just confirmed the Rideau is after the shooting inside Parliament so there's at least 2 shooters.

Then who are the suspects they are currently after on foot and on the motorbike?

ONe was killed in Parliament. So likely at least two.
