Can't blame the d for all that much, in my opinion. When the forwards have no ability to play in the offensive zone, to have a forechecking capable of disrupting a breakout, poor d is stuck in their own zone the entire time. Bound to see mistakes.

Treliving knows whats up. Now the question is what do you do about it?
He said repeatedly over the preseason and off season that offense was going to be an issue, It's only 7 games in but damn, the only real time the flames forwards had any cohesion on offense was against the worst D in league history (EDM).
My question now is, do you wait to see how the home stand goes before shaking things up? Doesn't have to be trades, I mean Granlund has zero business being in Addy right now and the Flames could use his skills.
Notice in every shot of flames failure, Smid was dead center of the screen.
I liked him last year for the most part, slow but generally smart D man.
This year, slow and stupid DMan.
His partners haven't really helped him this year. Diaz passing it blindly through the middle twice in the first period. Smid can be a steady, but there's a limit that one defenseman can keep covering his partner. Diaz has been awful in the first period. But really the only pairing we have playing relatively well today has been the top pairing.
