Scorch, the original mascot of the Adirondack Flames, will not take the ice, after a controversial preseason unveiling skit in which the puck-head mascot overpowered an actor portraying a Glens Falls firefighter.

“We’re extinguishing Scorch,” Brian Petrovek, president of the Adirondack Flames, said in an interview on Tuesday. “The misjudgment we made was such that we came to that decision.”

The team issued an apology for the skit on Oct. 9, shortly after The Post-Star reported about it.

The mascot did not appear at the Flames’ home opener at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Saturday, and will not appear ever.

Petrovek said the management is designing a new mascot that will be associated with fun, not fear.

I vote to have Lindsay Lohan's crotch as the replacement mascot.

We must move on from this devastating tragedy. Planning for the future is part of the healing process.

I think Talisman Terry the Frackosaurus would be a good fit for awkwardly good-bad mascot. He could light his own natural gas farts on fire like some kind of awful flame thrower, simultaneously defeating his foes and powering the Zamboni.

So I will preface this with that this all made sense at one point, but now I am not really sure about the relation to hockey, or this Adirondack place either for that matter. Maybe this is more of a trbute to Scorchy and Talisman Terry.

But anyway, what's done is done, and because I literally had nothing better to do than poorly photoshop together a bunch of images from the internet... I introduce my proposal for the new Adirondack Flames mascot - Billy the Blowout Babboon.
