just because he was a 4th liner on the hawks doesn't mean he's just a 4th liner...maybe on a weaker team like the flames he's a 3rd or (reaching here) possibly even a 2nd liner?

You can try to convince yourself that this is a good trade and drink the koolaid all you want, but it doesn't make things any different.

He's sign to a very reasonable contract as well. I just hope he's happy to come to the Flames after signing long term with the Blackhawks. I wouldn't be happy if I was him.

Yeah - real Ironman when you're playing some games 2 to 3 minutes...

Exactly. Guys like Westgarth.
So they are addressing nicely, starting with Bollig.

Also, the opinion of Blackhawks fans saying that he sucks shouldn't hold much weight. They're just used to having elite teams, which Bollig was a part of.
A crappy player in Bollig in Chicago is probably a really decent player on a team like Calgary.
I'd be more worried if this was the Florida Panthers or Edmonton Oilers fans saying he was crappy.

Ya that's why Quenneville, one of the top coaches in the league dressed him for every regular season game and played him over 10 minutes a game. Well done.

At the end of the day it might have been a bit overpayment but realistically what would we have gotten with that 3rd round pick? A late 3rd round pick, in a weak draft.

some people want to build the Oilers don't we all know how that works out?
keep making fun of Burke and the truculence thing...meanwhile LA wins another cup in our division with 3 massive teams

as it stands, barring any additional trades, he was jettisoned by the Hawks because he was deemed the most expendable, having their hand force by the cap.
Chris Simon? He was a guy with a ton of skill... and sadly a drinking problem. the only way Bollig sees 30 goals like Simon did for the Caps is if you count 4 seasons...
|
Not saying he's going to get 30 or even 10 goals, just that on a spectrum between PL3 and Simon he's more toward Simon.

Someone doesn't agree with you so they must be drinking the kool aid. Solid contribution and analysis.

Koolaid?
We added a cup winning grinder who played 10 minutes a game for chicago, and was trusted enough to play in the playoffs to a team learning how to win.
This is a sensible hockey move.

Nothing against Bollig but I think a 5th would have got him.
